That's not to bad considering it's a 7" display and has hdmi and sdi in and out.

I'd tend to never be a fanboy of a company self-centered into the broadcast sector when we live media convergence days as ever before, if some people haven't understood yet.
I don't find hybrids to be bad cinema cameras, rather the opposite or this website wouldn't even exist. Neither this thread with more than half million of views, trust me.
People come here not because they're not happy with their hybrid cinema cameras. Only because they want much more. Hybrids are reaching that one.
As observer and industry player, I'd say 5DII was only the first stone to be followed by that 'S' model by Sony with Panny to include 10-bit 4:2:2 in-camera, now even Fuji has added their 4:2:0 version.
How long up to arrive to the BMD standards? Will it be so long? Is anyone sure of that will be a long road from today? C'mon...
Why that same GH5S sensor? I've even asked to someone top ranked inside BMD, just a few days ago and he was unable to deny it... Disclosed information, he defended himself. Give us a break for a very simple reason: market and its players will dictate that one, step by step, from any incremental introduction now because giant leaps have been taken. Not marketing -- rather different than market(s) who actually establish the rules.

So my generic knock-off is still working fine. Displaying battery life and everything. You're right, there is probably cause for concern on the build quality of these cheap batteries but I've yet to ever actually hear of one swelling up or exploding *touch wood*

Did you crop in post or use Clear Zoom?
Clear Zoom works great for jpegs and video and you can effectively turn the lens into a 2x zoom for video with little loss of quality and use it while filming.
Sigma has come a long way.
I have had four things Sigma,
A 28-200 zoom lens that came as a kit lens with a Pentax film camera (Pentax and Sigma had the same distributor in Australia so Sigma lenses were often bundled as kits), it was ok with film but terrible with 6mp Pentax DSLRs.
A 200mm MF lens I had briefly before I destroyed it-    Was a failed experiment by Sigma I think (had an extra adjustment ring from memory) and it was by far the worst lens I have had that wasn't broken or damaged.
An adapter that turns Minolta MC/MD manual focus lenses into auto focus A mount ones (similar to a Pentax 1.7x auto focus adapter and a few others).
A 150 2.8 APO macro (non OS version).      This one I love though it does play up adapted to FF E mount.
The latest art lenses look excellent and quite good value but are a bit too big for my liking generally.

Thank you! I didn’t come to this topic to be a dick. I am working on a few short scripts (and features) so of course I’m interested in the P4K, but from what I’ve seen so far, I’m not convinced. However, I am glad that the people that bought it are happy with it. I just hate this mob mentality to attack any person that dislikes a camera, or even dares to question it... it’s like Grant Petty is offering free old fashioneds to anyone that sticks up for the P4K.
Yeah, a little hyperbole in my word choices.

MMhhhh no. Never had a contrasty hard look in RAW in my Nikon stills, don't know what you are talking about. Nothing to love or hate just a flat RAW image with lots of DR and flexibility. Not much difference with the Canon FF and Sony FF I have had.
In video, I can't say but the Flat profile does not look to hard contrasty from what I have seen.

What you refer to looks a lot more like user gradings and shooting than the camera.

Isn't it Sigma that created some of Olympuses optical formulas for them?
I like Sigma. They've always claimed ART is for the best quality. Size and price on the backburner. Hence they have the Contemporary line-up as well. Those were supposed to strike a better balance between the three. Though, given, they haven't been doing much of those... and those that have come out... were actually pretty dang huge, lol.
Don't think Lumix lenses ever looked... amazing. Especially in the GH2 days lenses like the 14-140mm and 20mm f/1.7 were popular. They were relatively compact, flexible and well-priced. But they had a very poppy modern character. Contrasty, sharp, but a bit stale at the same time as well. They did a good job, don't get me wrong, but they sorta lacked an organic vibe. It's like Samsung smartphone displays and their too vibrant respresentation of things. Think the new generation looks better. Think it was around the time the 42.5mm f/1.7 OIS and 30mm f/2.8 Macro were introduced. Quite like their looks. Have a bit more character. Of course it gets more interesting with the Leica glass. But... I guess you pay for what you get. Think Olympus PRO is still more of precision tools. Not too much of that 'ooooh look at that character, it's so legendary, ooh it has the Leica badging (but a Lumix lens cap)', just good lenses that sorta speak for themselves. It's no secret that I love their AF/MF solution with the de-clutch. That should be on every lens out there. Yeah, Olympus is doing very well out there. Not sure where the L-mount partnership is going, but I think it's an interesting team-up. Not actually the greatest fan of the mount. It's being surpassed by the E- and Z-mounts in terms of potential and flexibility. And great that there's an existing lens line-up, but... I was hoping more of a fullframe Lumix-like system, rather than a premium boutique-style one where everything is big, fluffed up and expensive. But... too soon to judge.
Still having a blast with MFT and the strides they've made post-GH4 is admirable. Think there's plenty of future for me there... especially if one considers massive size and weight a downer, then that's a system that's got you covered with plenty of options to keep that in check.

Use common sense and A7III vs A7RIII documentation and facts and you will know. What Z7 can do in video Z6 will and might even do better because 24mpx works better for video.
Z7 blows the EOS R in most video aspects so will the Z6.

I did make exactly that point in the last line though?
"I think the video could equally have been called "Why I Don't Need A 4K RAW Cinema Camera Irrespective Of How Much It Costs" as when it comes to the most important aspects the only difference between the two is where the decimal point is in the price."
Again, I did actually mention that as a difference in favour of the BM though ?
"No built-in XLRs - Its singular but obviously different there."

Which bits Jon?  I've said a few things
In terms of me moving away from AF, it's a complete change in philosophy.  I'm moving from wanting a camera to record whatever shots I can see (and therefore being really flexible), to having a camera that I love the images of and then just accepting that it won't capture everything I want.  In that sense, I think I want manual primes, and potentially vintage ones.  Once I switched philosophies in my head I worked out what that setup would look like and it makes sense that approaching my work in a different way would mean the equipment would be quite different too.
I shot a few videos testing various elements of the setup and concluded that MF is fine if I get good focus assists.  I shoot in MF for my kids sports games anyway so I'm kind of used to it.
You don't need anything - just put a lens on it and go.  Sure, the battery doesn't last long, but it lasts long enough for some people.  If you want longer battery life then put on a V-Mount, and if you put it at the back then add an external screen too.  Rig it as large as you like, then it's like a normal cinema camera.  My point is that if you get the brain of a real cinema camera then you can't even put a lens on it, let alone record any footage.
This is both a "pocket" camera AND a cinema camera.  Most cameras this size aren't good cinema cameras rigged up, and no cinema camera is this size.  They've designed it for both and everyone is moaning that it's not perfect.  It's not perfect - neither is any other camera.
I agree that a hinge on the screen would have been nicer.  But for a cinema camera, it's a bonus they gave us a screen at all.

Isn't the whole point of the big monitor that this is a pocket camera and you don't need an external monitor?
If you need to rig up a monitor to mount external power without some unorthodox rigging whatsit designed to prevent blocking the view of the screen, then the rear monitor is just a waste of space and energy.
Or are you saying this isn't a real cinema camera because they included a screen on the back?
Broken design: halfway between a cinema camera that requires rigging and a low form factor device, in ways that are trampling on each other. The least they could have done here is add a hinge for the screen and then this would be a non-issue.

I have to say that my takeaway from it was wondering why he bought it in the first place because those list of reasons in his description were all there before he wrote the cheque.
I'm not sure it particularly validates the P4K either to be honest as that camera wouldn't move the story on significantly for him either in a lot of those criteria that he listed against the RED.
    * My clients don’t need or ask for 4K  - So its no different there. * I don’t end up taking it because I’m worry about it getting stolen and it is so heavy - Obviously different there. * The batteries only last an hour, so I have to bring a bunch - So its no different there. * No autofocus (which matters more when you’re a one man band or are filming yourself) - Obviously different there. * I find the image is actually really noisy. - From what I've seen, the Pocket4K will be a win there. * Filming with it is just slower and more work. - So its no different there due to it sharing the same issues he lists in his next 4 points. * Footage takes a longer time to backup. - So its no different there (relative to the type of cameras he lists that he does want to use in his last point) * Takes longer to make proxies. - So its no different there (relative to the type of cameras he lists that he does want to use in his last point) * Takes longer to export. - So its no different there (relative to the type of cameras he lists that he does want to use in his last point) * No built-in ND Filters - So its no different there. * No built-in XLRs - Its singular but obviously different there. * $1750 for the module with a mic input jack + HDMI/SDI out - Obviously different there! * Really want to go back to using hybrid cameras (I hate packing two kinds of cameras for photo + video needs) - So its no different there. I think the video could equally have been called "Why I Don't Need A 4K RAW Cinema Camera Irrespective Of How Much It Costs" as when it comes to the most important aspects the only difference between the two is where the decimal point is in the price.
