  1. Hasselblad launched a speedbooster for their X1D system which helps to adapt existing H mount lenses to the X1D lens mount with incorporated optics to reduce the cropfactor 0.8x

The result is a virtual sensor 1.5x bigger than fullframe, or as big as a 645 medium format frame.

    It costs €959.00 tax included.

  2. A thin negative can have a lot of contrast but the image tends to go mushy and the colors have a bias towards something that is not their own color. A thick negative is not an overexposed one, overexposed negatives lose contrast and colors go more pastel. A thick negative is a negative that uses the maximal potential of the emulsion, this involves correct exposure, a contrasty scene with good lighting, textures, colors ,etc...

In film you can add in development to help pushing things into something closer to thick, in digital you can color correct. But one thing is clear, Nothing comes from nothing.

In other words, you need a scene with a lot of information, a tool that is able to deliver a lot of information, and the technique to get out the most information from the scene through the tool onto the final presentation.

Hey everyone - just want to say as a newcomer to anamorphic shooting, this forum has been really great.

Can anyone clarify the difference between the gold and red ISCO ultrastars (the small compact ones)? From my understanding the red ISCOs are sharper, but does that mean drastically sharper? I'm about to buy a gold ISCO ultrastar on ebay (with the solid blue star) the price is reasonable compared to the red ISCOs which are almost twice the price.

My previous lens was a Sankor 16c and I was disappointed with the clarity on it - even after being tuned the image just seemed a bit hazy. Will I see a big improvement with the gold ISCO?

The gold isco is very sharp compared to the sankor.

Already did! (well Mamiya 6 anyway).     Someone (I think it was in korea) modified and sold them on Ebay though not many.    It was hacked to take digital backs.   Must have been about ten years ago maybe a bit less.       Can not see any reason you could not do the same with the Mamiya 7.

Didn't know that, but that's not the real thing because digital backs only go up to 645. I really want 6x7.
