    Update:
I recorded 25:00 of video then battery pull with no issue on my RP. All ~4GB MP4 segments were fine, with naturally the last one missing Don't let the recording reach the 29:59 legacy limit - if you do the camera will save the NVRAM settings when it automatically ends the recording The Ridgecrop formatter tool link I posted for Windows only worked once for me. After that the camera wouldn't accept any cards formatted with it. I then tried the formatter built into OSX using the FAT32 and MBR options (not GPT) - the camera accepts those cards but then displays an error whenever you take a photo or end a video recording. The only reliable and consistent way I've found to format > 32GB cards for FAT32 that my RP would accept and work with is under Linux. You can see instructions how to do so here. Here's a screenshot of the ~4GB segements on a 64GB SD card formatted to FAT32 for my 25:00 recording:

As is wrote above, despite 60W of Peltier cooling power supplied, with a copper heatspreader covering the whole back of the R5 behind the LCD screen and cooling it to -5 degrees Celsius, risking internal condensation, it has ZERO impact on the time I can record in 8K RAW, with my R5 with firmware v 1.0.0.
I was willing to walk around with this ugly contraption if it would give me longer recording times. I need a full NP-F970 battery per hour for the maximum cooling. I doubt Tilta will apply that much cooling power.

The question is will some of the heavy-hitters out on YT and the web sites will call Canon out on this? They should if they're not biased. It's nice to see most who have already started the drum beat are crediting Andrew as well as others. Well deserved.

Because as an hybrid photo/video shooter in wild/extreme sport environment, it’s the best tool (would be) for the job. It’s an extreme frustration to have to go through what Canon is doing right now, but I would shoot myself hard in the foot if I would use something else should they fix the issue.

However I have done my part. Since the 5D3 I stopped shooting Canon and never gave them a cent because of their crippling. I have a dozen people around me who listen to my camera/tech advice (mostly for beginner camera stuff) over the last few years. I all made them buy Nikon for photography and Sony for video.

Now for me the R5 is a million step above anything else just because it combines FF + no crop + 4K120 + 10 bit + best ergonomics + 45mpx + best colors + best AF + best in class IBIS. The AF on Panasonic is not usable for me, the Sony you have to carry 2 cameras to have both still and video which I cannot do, and so on.
So I am ready to give again Canon my money, if they fix it of course. It sucks what they do, but it would suck more to use anything else. In the end, what matters most is if someone correct is fault or not. I will not forgive them, but I’ll buy the R5 if that software limitation goes away.

Let’s be realistic though, I am afraid all they will give us is 50% more recording time and 50% faster recovery or some BS like that. I hope I am wrong.

    Just tried this as well.
It does forget the aperture because it didn't write it to NVRAM in time if you pull the battery quite quickly - I tried after about 10 seconds, with the battery door open and a small screw lodged in the pin to force the camera into ON state even with door open.

It does not forget the timers
That seems to work off a separate clock to the main date / time and is constantly ticking away like a quartz powered by the button cell.
One solution I wish the Chinese guy had tried is to permanently remove the internal battery and see if the recovery timer is reset every time you reboot without it.
It would be annoying to be kept asking to input date and time on every startup though.

Another way possibly to trick the R5 would be to install a dummy battery and power-cycle the camera using the dummy battery. Might this possibly reset the camera losing it's settings/memory? Something to try.

MagicLantern does not produce any modification to the original firmware, it remains intact. What it does is add functions through a firmware that works in addition to the existing one, is hosted on the card and can be deleted at any time.

What if they made an adjustment that gave you 45min of 4k HQ, 8k at 25min and4k 120p at 20min and recovery time at 60 minutes max. Would that be enough?
This is all kind of silly if they do. It would still be crippled and everyone would be trying to calculate if it would be usable or not.
Why are we even messing with Canon at this point? Not worth the frustration.

I suspected Canon to cripple this camera somehow, someway but this artificial heat limit and recovery time is really out of line. Such arrogance!
But you know what? Canon may think they control the market but we have the power to control them by boycotting Canon. Especially nowadays with the camera industry bleeding as it is. Force Canon to stop this BS. How?
If you already purchased the camera, return it. If you have it on order, cancel it. Cancel all orders with Canon. Write letters to Canon showing your disgust. Call Canon and voice your disapproval. Fight Canon with your pocketbook. Stop the BS.

ajay got a reaction from Yurolov in Canon EOS R5 overheated in my fridge! After just 60 JPEGs! (4 °C ambient)
So...let me play the devil's advocate here and make sure nothing is being overlooked with Andrew's latest test:
Do we know with absolute certainty that Canon is using the EXIF temperature data to determine when to shut down the camera? For example, what if there is a temperature sensor on the back of the sensor itself? That sensor is floating w/o a heat sink. It very well could overheat while the remainder of the camera stays warm but not hot. It appears wifi was enabled during the test. This typically generates more heat. Why did temperatures remain constant while wifi was operating. I would think they would rise even in a fridge. Again, are we missing some other temperature sensor in this camera other than what's being reported by EXIF data? Andrew states "Overheat control was turned off in the menus, as I find it makes little difference to video mode and shouldn’t be needed in a fridge."  I don't understand why this option was turned off. Why not give the camera every opportunity not to overheat when in stand-by mode? Please note: I'm not trying to stir the pot here. Just trying to do a check-and-balances to make sure the test hasn't overlooked some other possibilities. Troubleshooting requires reducing the number of variables.

I believe it has the same tracking as the A9, A9II, A7RIV and the newer crop-sensor cameras. Touch-to-track a subject. (Using the touch screen.) I wish the end of September would get here.

    Using Resolve studio here.
Once I turned then into 25fps they playback real-time on my PC.
Trying to playback at 100fps it dropped frames. But in a 25 or 24 timeline it worked. Time stretched or normal, works really fine.
My setup is a Ryzen 1600 with a Radeon Rx570 4gb, 32gb ram. Very similar to some Macs.
My system struggles with the Canon R5 h265, 100% CPU usage dropping frames, but not the Sony ones, 40-50% CPU. Even turning the R5 files into 24-25fps doesn't make any difference.
But the Sony XAVC-I performed really close to prores, 25% CPU, and that is a great point for the A7s 3.

I thought that too at first but when testers were able to get the camera to run for extended periods using an external recorder, it made me believe the sensor temperature isn't the problem.

With any 10-bit camera (if you know what you are doing) you should have plenty of latitude to create just about any color scheme you want. All it takes is someone who knows what they are doing to create a LUT that matches the color you are hoping to achieve. I have to stress however that it takes someone who knows what they are doing. There is no doubt that straight out of the camera, skin colors do not have the magenta that Canon has that people have a tendency to like. It certainly is achievable however.
What I've mostly seen online so far with the A7SIII is mostly straight-out-of-camera looks. Gerald Undone has a new video up today that explains what most people do with their log footage. They attempt to add saturation and contrast and they think that's good enough. Well...it's not good enough.
