Im not sure what settings im currently using, when I get home ill check and post them here =)
I underexpose most of my shots, I think thats how you make the NX1 look the best, over exposed shots make it look way too digital and looks quite bad, so its best to under expose and then bring the exposure up in post if needed.

I understand what you are saying, but I learned a long time ago that a grade is completely in the eye of the beholder. Some people will hate my grade some people will love it.
I have seen grades that are technically too dark and some that were too bright. I have seen grades that I thought were technically too red, green or blue, too saturated( my own included)  and not saturated enough. Some times you have to look at a grade not in "your own taste"or on it's technical accuracy but as someones else's artist expression, right or wrong and appreciate it for that.

The NX1's iso performance is actually not that bad, only at extremes and I think this is overstated.  If you need it, sure high iso is important. Many have noted that the performance between 100 and 1600 is virtually the same, which is where many will live and shoot.  Latter firmware may have actually improved it according to some.
When I watch this below, I am seeing lots of resolution, not so much over sharpening.  That said I do believe the NX1 could do with lower sharpening levels.
Actually I know a lot about lenses, its been my life for 35 years,  But to satisfy some before I sell the A7RII I will shoot a comparison with the same lens,  It will have to be a Nikon because that's all I have that fits both.  Funny thing is the IR filter is there for Video and its still there for Stills and the 24-70 is razor sharp in stills?    Must be some voodoo magic happening? :-)
Saw the macro blocking n the NX1 and yes the Sony out performs in this area, but replaces it with outhr sensor based artefacts  like noise, so which is better?  I suppose it's up to the individual.
No Chance of Macro Blocking here :-)  The Samsung just recorded the detail while the Sony thought it was not important?  Or maybe you will say I misfocused?

Sorry Disagree,  If it was the lens, I would see it in stills, even cropped stills, and I do not.  The Canon 24-70 F4 L series is just as sharp even at APSC crops as the Samsung lens

A late response but i shot a wedding this summer on the NX1 with a 12.000 mAh USB battery. No problems what so ever during the 7 hour shoot and the battery lasted all day.

OK, I tested the camera, shooting non-stop for 3 hours, immediately restarting every 1/2 hour with each time limit. Quite amazingly, the camera showed zero signs of problems (was barely warm) and probably could have gone indefinitely. Also, you can use the USB cable for power if you need. Bottom line, NX1 should work fine for arbitrarily long shoots.

Michael, I got my nx1 in June and have really enjoyed it.
I haven't gotten any of the NX lenses, but I do want to get a few of the pancakes.
I've liked this camera coming from the d7100.
My d7100 has served me really well, and continues to do so, but the nx1 just has so many things that the d7100 doesn't that it really is fun to use and really does feel like an upgrade, in terms of features, usability, and footage.

Pretty much all my lenses are Nikon, at least my big prime and zoom set, and they work great on the nx1, although my 11-16 vignettes wider then 13mm or so.
My 7100 had some banding too, mainly in the shadows. It doesn't look good when it shows up, It hasn't been an issue 8 out of 10 times, but when it looks ugly, it looks ugly.
The nx1 hasn't shown anything like that, but I haven't really put it through the low light ringer.
I use Rocky Mountain converter and haven't had any real issues with converting, and recording UHD and converting to 1080 looks gorgeous to me.
One thing I really love about the nx1 is how long the battery lasts in it, even when filming UHD all day, a battery will last me the entire day and only be around half drained. 
I really like this camera and the features you get for the money are incredible. Transcoding the footage has been blown out of proportion, it really isn't that big of a hassle for me.
 

1. Blegh. Apple people. 4K on smartphones are a thing for a while now. 'But wooohhh, it's Apple doing it now, look at this, it's amazeballs'. I mean... really?
2. Can't agree with the topic title. It's still a tiny sensor... it's still a very deep depth of field, it's still oversharpened... I thought that was a thing we're trying to avoid by shooting with cameras like the D750, to be more filmlike. The iPhone's footage is way too screamy and harsh for my taste. It lacks nuance. Besides. DYNAMIC RANGE. Man.
3. Of course 4K -> 1080p is going to look sharper/crisper than regular 1080p from a Canon/Nikon fullframe DSLR. To me though, the amount of detail in a deep depth of field shot makes things flat, I need some layering

Yes I thought the same thing about being similar to Blackmagic. To my eyes the DR seems the same as the BMPCC, and BMCC. I'm dying to test it via ProRes HQ but I don't have an external recorder. I might have to rent one this week.

There's some horrible banding/colour artefacts going on in that video (as with my graded image on previous page). I'm going to make an early call and say V-Log is a ProRes friendly profile that's a danger zone for internal shooting. 

If you had a NX1 you would definitely not understand why you should pay for any software upgrade

4:2:2 to begin with, even much more important.

it matters a lot in situations where there is only one of the basic colours: for example under water, where only blue is left, (green and red gone)
you only have 8 bit blue left, and this give clear banding
10 bit is much better in this case

But then you have to add RED SSD, RED batteries, RED things... and then your bank calls you

Well, how could it?  It's like what, 5.5 Megapixel in APS-C crop mode?  Not enough resolution left for 4k in this mode.

Wang, nx1 is a very capable camera, so I don't understand why you say 'even worse than nx1', as if it were shitty...

The title of the topic is misleading I think :/

I was looking forward to this announcement and now I'm not so sure what I think. All the obvious improvements are there, IBIS, 4K plus that nice extra of 1080p 120fps. And, of course, I look forward to seeing some consumer footage. But I had kind of hoped for less rolling shutter...or slightly increased MP count...

I might save (a lot) more and look at the Ursa Mini at some point. I can't quite get over the fact that some of the most impressive and filmic footage I've seen is from Blackmagic.

Transcoding will soon be a thing of the past with the new H265 support from Adobe. The banding on the skies, for me, thats the worst part, but I guess without transcoding it should be fixed. This camera is a serial killer IMO, destroys everything within the price range, and above, its a gorgeous little camera ! I still havent used it for photography yet, since im currently waiting for the arrival of my 30mm f2.
