Color science (no greenish-yellow tint and strange color response in different lighting conditions (looks like a 3D color map kind of flaw)).
Rolling shutter.
Still shots with autofocus and Canon lenses.
 
We have 6 cameras for 6 different uses:
 
1. FS700 for slow motion or when pro audio is needed in-camera.
2. 5D3 for stills (and/or RAW video)
3. GH4 for highest quality video (4K and 1080p) in good lighting conditions
4. A7S for low light and/or portable shallow DOF with compressed video (otherwise 5D3 RAW is far better)
5. GoPro for POV and underwater
6. iPhone 5S for pickup shots and getting a shot 'cause that's the camera we have on hand at the time
 
Some day all these features will be in a cell phone, watch, or glasses.

Too Funny!  You should rename this blog the Canon 1DC sucks.  Yet, you compare every camera you review to it. And, in my opinion,
the best looking footage you have shot has been with it.

I love this camera!

i don't remember Arri  film cameras having focus peaking, wave forms, barely a video tap and yet somehow the accomplished the greatest movies ever made.  I think people are really spoiled .  

Compare it with this video he shot at 1080 with Canon 1DC Zeiss Otus  and a Atmos Pro Res recorder :

I think it's going in the direction of what happened with a photography industry and what I described in the previous post.

I love Magic Lantern and what they do . 
But,  i think they could be much better if they became more professional and charged for something for it.
It's great, but its kind of a mess. If they don't someone will...
I  bought the Andy's guide and am glad to support his efforts.

Hey guys, this is my first post on the forum but I've been keeping up with this topic for a couple weeks.  I decided to snag a used 1 v1 myself (B&H for $250) and I have to admit, I'm kind of in love with it.  Yeah it has many limitations and the workflow is sluggish, but after working with Canon DSLR video (not any of the new RAW stuff) for years, it's truly a breath of fresh air to work with video that looks this good!
 
I made a little test video of some shots over the past week and a half and I'm very pleased with them.  I used Twixtor to slow down the clips to 2-4 seconds.  It worked pretty well about 80% of the time.  You can notice some weird Twixtor motion problems here and there, but I don't really mind because they're not too in-your-face.

Ah, I saw Redtails and I think it was the worst movie I have ever seen . I don't think it would be good enough for tv .
So dumbed down,it was insulting to a really great story.

Using the May 28 build and the settings recommended throughout this post, I did a test run and posted the video on Vimeo.  I have a Lexar 64Gb 1000X card and was able to record at 16:9 at 57mbps without filling the buffer but had issues at 3:2 at 71mbps and couldn't achieve more than 450 frames before stopping.

I used an external SmallHD monitor via HDMI and had weird intermittent frame garbage.  Happened in both 16:9 and 3:2.

Workflow was RAW>raw2dng>Photoshop RAW>TIFF>Quicktime>FinalCut 7.  

Shot with a Moller Bolex 1.5x anamorphic lens and Zeiss 80mm f/2.8.

Found some time to edit my shots I made earlier this week.

Experimented with a new workflow, I wanted something faster than ACR/Bridge, so I used RAWanizer to convert to CineformRAW 444 (about 10 minutes for 21GB of footage), graded the clips in Davincie Resolve Lite 9 and edited in Premiere CS6.

I think i like the look of the 50D better than the 5D. Looks really film like.

Here's a short shot with the panasonic LA 7200 and 5D iii from a few years ago and it looks suprisinly good. I think.   :

Well, you cannot shoot raw on any vista vision sized sensor in the world besides the 5Diii.
It is unique . No other camera can do it. I don't care if it's "pro" or not .
It's a special tool. It will look differently than any other camera,
People will find a way to make it work to get that "look".
I wouldn't shoot everything on it, but for certain things it's killer.
If you have shot something that looks better than what this guy shot on a 5dii

Its funny that everyone screams "workflow" problems from the get-go.  Not too long ago we were capturing everything in real-time from tape... remember??  My film-school experience was that we shot on 16mm - had to get it processed overnight (while praying that your exposure readings were actually OK so you wouldn't have messed up footage) and then we edited on pre-final cut pro systems... meaning Steinbeck machines with white gloves and scotch tape and razor blades... And I'm not even old!!
 
In 2006 we were so impressed when we began producing tv with a big production company that had a TERABYTE!! of storage.
 
In my estimation - the color on this footage is BEAUTIFUL! - A drastic, marked difference that any non-pro can easily see.  Honestly, this stuff makes me want to buy a 5D3.  An option I would absolutely not have considered two weeks ago.

I don't have a mkiii but I do have a c 300 and this footage has a pow factor the 300 does not . I've seen footage here and other places that is stunning. I'm getting one soon.
The only thing I'm worried about is canon somehow stopping ML..

I don't really care what anyone says or thinks. I've been obsessed with the footage from this camera since i first saw it Sunday night.

Same experience conversing with Phil myself. A lot of nasty tantrums over email and threatening behaviour. He needs to handle criticism far better than he is doing.
 
Really the issue is not that he doesn't need raw, or finds it impractical, or wants to constantly point that out.
 
The issue is that he is in a position to help us and help Magic Lantern, and all he can do is moan and post pictures of himself.
