I agree. The further a mic is from camera, the worse the sound.

Ah yeah, I've actually seen that pass by as well. Didn't put 1 and 1 together. Also 'Powered by Google search skills' didn't help me here (then again, I was looking for ML RAW). Good job.

Maybe its the "Americanah Concept Trailer" it matches with the Specs and the Badroom.
These infos are given from User cantsin
Look at this example - according to its maker, it has been shot with a GH4 using the internal codec, Panasonic 12-35mm F2.8, 20mm F1.7 & 42.5mm F1.7 lenses, Tiffen Black Satin filter, three cheap Yongnuo LED lights and a Nebula 4000 gimbal

I think the DJI Ronin M is your best all around gimbal for the price. You could easily have a 7D on there and put a monitor on the handles so you can check your focus manually.

Ya you totally can. I've been shooting full manual for years now on MoVIs. Having good AF is great but not needed.

Also worth getting a good USB audio interface rather than running them direct from your computer. I've got the Presonus E5's and they are very clear and uncoloured.

It's caused by the browser unfortunately, so it will vary depending on which browser the person is viewing it on sees. Chrome causes a bad color shift for me, while Microsoft Edge is accurate. It's not a minor shift either :/

Dan Wake reacted to Parker in Imagine Editing with both hands using the Hololens
The hololens is super cool, we have one at work, but honestly it was a little disappointing the first time I played with it; the "window" of holograms that you get to see projected in front of you is just quite small, I'd say maybe a 10 or 20%-sized box of your vision? I don't know, it's certainly not as cool as the promotional material seems to indicate though. Yes you can plan Minecraft on your kitchen tabletop or whatever, but still, only in that tiny box. It is pretty neat how it literally looks like a hologram floating in front of you though. The resolution isn't amazing yet either, so I'm not sure how great the current headset would be for actual editing, needing high-res, etc.
As far as an immersive, futuristic experience, I was much more impressed by the HTC Vive, which is only $800 compared to $3,000 for the Hololens. Either way, it'll be very interesting to see what kind of tech and gadgets comes out of this segment as it matures. Just imagine the shenanigans the next generation of kids is going to get caught doing by their parents!

Dan Wake reacted to mercer in 5D3 ML Raw Screen Grabs
Thanks Dan, sorry I should have been more clear in my long post... this isn't 4K... I actually shot in 2:35, so it isn't even 1080p... it's 1920x810. Since I'm new to the 5D3 and ML, I haven't tested the 4K Raw yet... yet.
But I am pretty sure the 4K Raw is not a fluid preview and liveview is in grey scale.

Dan Wake reacted to mercer in 5D3 ML Raw Screen Grabs
So as some already know, I recently purchased a 5D3 primarily to shoot Magic Lantern Raw. Well this week I started my first short film with it. It was definitely a learning experience but I really don't know of any camera where I would have achieved such pleasing images. I also purchased the Canon 24-70mm f/4 lens and I am consistently blown away by what a great lens it is and the OIS is so damn good, even at 70mm, that the majority of my short, thus far, has been shot handheld.
With the recent 4K Raw developments, I figured I would post some pros and cons in case somebody else is looking to pick one up.
Well the first pro is that shooting Raw could not be simpler with it. Set up Raw histogram with the overexposure hint and when it shows your color channels are starting to clip or the word "over" appears on the histogram, then just dial back your exposure a touch.
Another pro is that there are a bunch of people on this forum still shooting with the 5D3 and everybody is helpful. If you have a problem about any aspect of the process or workflow, there are plenty of other ML shooters around here that go out of their way to answer even the stupidest of my questions... not nearly as daunting as the ML forum.
Now a couple cons... you need a bunch of cards... or a computer and hard drive to offload your footage... 12 minutes on a 64GB cards gets filled quickly. Even with 3 cards, and trying to be conservative with my shots and shot ratios, I still ran out of space 3/4 of the way through my second day of shooting.
Converting the footage is a bit tedious. The RawMagic route of converting the MLV files to CDNG is fairly fast but then you still have to process the footage through Resolve or After Effects before really seeing what you have. I really like the MLRawViewer program, but although you get to preview your footage, the conversion is slow and after I updated my Mac to Sierra, the version I have does not work with it, but I believe there is a newer version,  so hopefully it will work then.
I guess that's about it for now, so I'll leave you with a couple graded screen grabs, from a couple shots I briefly messed around with yesterday...

Dan Wake reacted to jcs in Focal Listen Headphones - awesome!
First video monitored and mixed with the Focal Listen (multilayer sound effects toward end of video):
These headphones are so well damped it's like they have active noise cancellation. The sound is detailed, clear, with smooth highs and a wonderful sound. Super comfortable too. The Focal Listens are a fantastic upgrade ($249) from the already excellent Audio Technica ATH-M50 ($149) which is a nice upgrade from the Sony 7506 ($89). If you like the sound of the 7506 and/or ATH-M50, the Listens are worth a demo.
I had not heard of Focal before, and listened to the Listens at CanJam 2017, thanks again @HockeyFan12 for the tip! (my experiences here, including with many dynamic, planar magnetic, electrostatic, and the $55,000 Sennheiser HE-1 headphones: https://brightland.com/w/the-best-headphones/).
    More reviews here: https://www.amazon.com/Focal-Listen-Closed-Over-Ear-Headphones/dp/B01H2NDPZY/
Focal Listen page: https://www.focal.com/en/headphones/headphones/listen/listen. Their top of the line headphones, the Utopia is $4000: https://www.focal.com/en/headphones/headphones/utopia/utopia, https://www.headamp.com/order/focal-utopia-open-back-dynamic-headphones/
The Listen headphones are designed for mobile, and also have a mic and remote button. The supplied cable is a bit short for production work, so I ordered one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LM4ON3I/ which works great. A longer cable can be used as the included cable is detachable (the UGreen brand will work as the connector housing is narrow enough).
At CanJam I auditioned the Audeze LCD-X on my iPhone, then ran over and tried the Listens again on the same track- the Listens sounded much better! I'm sure the results will be different when using a high end amp, however the Listens will sound better too. The last headphones I listened to that got me this excited were Stax (which I finally ordered from Japan after the show).
Written descriptions and a video mixed with them won't show you how they sound- you'll need to demo them in person.
These are the kind of headphones that make you want to go through your music collection again, which I've been doing when not working on audio-related projects
    A+ bang for buck!

The difference is virtually unnoticeable from what I understand and is completely, wildly overshadowed by model-to-model differences. Many of the best headphones are around 50ohm I think. I have heard that within the same model, the 32ohm Beyerdynamics might be the weaker performers, a little less refined but again, maybe a 5% difference at most. It's nothing to worry about except that you won't drive your HD800s that loudly out of your MacBook and will want an amp.

It could be impossible to find something like that on the cheap. Usually, only higher end headphones offer better quality. Then again, you'd need a proper amp and dac to go with it as well.

I stopped recording after 11 minutes. It's safe to say it's continuous. So yes, there is a Santa Claus if Santa Claus = continuous 24p compressed RAW at 3168 x 1320 (max vertical resolution without going wider than 2.4:1). Here's a DNG:

Santa Claus is yet to bring correct preview framing while recording or sound. Let's hope it doesn't take until April 1st 2018.

De-clicking is definitely be beneficial if one shoots documentaries/events that often require the aperture to be ramped up/down during the shot (especially when using an on-camera mic).

I have a few vintage Nikkors, but I rarely ramp the aperture while rolling, so I haven't really needed to de-click.

Quick question: Is this useable with the Sony A7SII and no native lens?

I wanted to use this with a vintage 35mm lens but have only now realised that getting focus might be quite difficult, what with the screen and EVF obscured. Would I need to pick up a native Sony lens to make best use of the gimbal? This was made with the Sony A7SII and native lenses but the videographer did note he wasn't overly impressed with the native glass.
