Awesome footage, Seb! Always enjoy the fact how much you get out of the actual motifs by skillful approach of filming, and not so much

fixing it in post. Nice color and color profile coming from your hands!

So how does the focussing work, you need to put the lens on infinity and then focus with the SLR Finder?

    cheers

Thanks Panny, yes the less I do modification in post, the more I feel good ;) And yes I put infinity on the prime lens and focusing with the focus module. The very closed shots are taken with a + 3 diopter.

Lovely. And great music choice too - one of my favourite 90s bands - every time I saw them was like seeing a completely different band. I have to admit I still don't get what you mean by the bayonet on the lx100 - mine doesn't seem to have this.

Yes His Name Is Alive is a great band :) I never had been the chance to see them live. For the bayonet, press firmly the black plastic circle surrunding the front of the lens and turn it from right to left. This bayonet is done for accessories, such as this automatic front cap

This 2ND PART is taken in the French Pyrenees in Luchon.
I'm happy having managed building a system for using my baby anamorphic on a 4K compact camera. I used an accessory tube made for the Canon G7 and managed to screw it on the bayonet system of the LX100. then I screwed another tube on it to allowed the zoom going at it's end of it's range (84mm in 4K, because it's vignetting below), then the Redstan clamp for my baby Hypergonar, and finally the SLR Magic Rangefinder focus system, and here we go ! :)

For me the result is very promising ! What do you think ?

camera : Panasonic DMC-LX100 on tele zoom position (84mm) always at it's full aperture (f2.8 in tele position)
3:2 4K 25p photo mode exported in UHD
    baby Hypergonar anamorphic 1.75x lens
    SLR Magic Rangefinder focus system
no color correction except slight upper whites on 3 clips
    -5 personnal color settings
    Howa ND 32 filter
music : His Name Is Alive "Man On The Sylver Mountain"
Thanks to Céline and Nina as the editing assistant

Hmm, it looses a LOT of detail there.

What do you mean ? If you want the full res of the video stills they are in the flick'r. Don't forget it's a lens for 8mm film and for me the result on a compact is far surprising

Oh now I understand. I wasn't aware the lx100 had a bayonet system for attachments like that. Thanks for the link. I also read that the panasonic lx7 bayonet accessory tube might be compatible with the lx100.

I wonder if a 2x anamorphic attachment would work on the lx100 in 4:3 at max zoom (87mm) I have a proskar laying around that I will try eventually.

Îm not sure it will work with a 2x (the baby is 1.75), Îm very closed to vignetting

This is great, anamorphic looks nice on the lx100! I was recently thinking about anamorphic on my lx100. Thanks for the idea! I want to try the anamoprhic shop vm lens because it's very small and wouldn't need any extra adapters. But i'm worried about the lx100 sensor size being too large. The vm lens is recommended for bmpc sized sensors.

The canon g7 accessory tube, what exactly is it for and can it be purchased online? Thanks!

This tube is compatible more or less with the bayonet system attachment of the LX100, so I can fix the system on the camera with care, much better than fixing it on the fragile zoom...

Here is the second movie I've just done in Italy with the upcoming SLR Magic Rangefinder.

Any comment welcome, thanks for watching.

    GH3 1080p 24 70mbps
    SLR Magic Rangefinder
    on baby Hypergonar anamorphic lens
    in Redstan clamp
on Qioptiq LINOS MeVis-C C-mount 35mm from f1.6 to f8 with ND filters
    no color correction

    Music :
Polo & Pan"Plage isolée (soleil couchant)"
    Lilicub "voyage en Italie"
    Dalida "Love in Portofino"

    Thanks to :
Nina, Céline, Gianmarco and Andrew from SLR Magic

The 1st movie is here :

  9. Yes soft and hazy, flarey, with a local low contrast filter streaks.

Perhaps it's the nature of the taking lenses used here I hope.

Thanks for the stills @Sebastien Farges What are the lenses and how much of optical change did you notice?

the taking lens (LINOS MeVis-C 35mm f1.6 C-mount) is good with this combo from f5.6. The video was taken between f1.6 to f8. The baby Hypergonar is not the highest sharpest lens in the world ;) Apparently I'm happy with the Rangefinder, despite the results are a little under with duet diopters.

  10. Hi my anamorphic friend, here is a a new match I've found for my baby Hypergonar, the Pentax Cosmicar 25mm f1.4 C-mount lens, and I like the result, despite the distortion and the slight vignetting. What do you think ? (more information below)

    IMG_0667.jpg

Oleron Island (Baby Hypergonar on Pentax Cosmicar C-mount)

    GH4 UHD photo mode 3:2 25p
    Cinelike V +0 -5 -5 -2 +2
    Highlight +1 Shadow +5
    Master Pedestal +11

    Pentax Cosmicar 25mm f1.4 C-mount lens
    Baby Hypergonar 1.75x anamorphic lens
    Redstan clamp
    SLR Magic +0.33, +1.3, +1.8 diopters, Narumi +3 diopter
    SLR Magic ND variable filter
Lumetri CC and levels adjustments in Premiere
Everything was shot between @f2 / f2.8 (because upper gives more vignetting) or more when exposition needs, except close shost with diopters @f1.4
