    Bail.  Good call.
Things seem to be built for 13 year olds.
There needs to be an evolution of internet culture in order to healthily engage with it.  Might not even happen in or lifetime, but it's okay for some of us to be content on the sidelines.

"Hey kids, this week we are comparing Camera A with Camera B and Camera A will have a fast wide prime lens (because that's all I could get my hands on) and Camera B has a kit zoom lens (because that's all I could get my hands on). So guys, let's go out and shoot! My back wall! And my cat!"
I suppose in one way, 'real world tests' are of folks back walls and cats as that's all they seem to shoot.
Maybe there's a market for this kind of thing...

I was just going to post a reply saying "where has this been all my life??" but I realise I watched one recently that was hilarious....  they try sparkling water!
In a rare moment where every star in existence aligned, I sent that to my daughter while we were out at breakfast with a few of her friends and she played it for the whole table on her phone and everyone watched and for 5 whole minutes no-ones ADHD interrupted.  I wouldn't have believed it was possible if I didn't actually witness it!

Xavier Plagaro Mussard reacted to fuzzynormal in Can you edit 4K 300Mbps footage stored on a NAS drive over WIFI?
A work around is to do proxy editing with proxy files on your hard drive and keep the source file on your NAS.  You'll only access the source files when it comes time to render and the network access speed won't be a big issue for that process.

Xavier Plagaro Mussard reacted to kye in P4K vs S1/S1H
I'd make sure a P4K / P6K would work better for what you do than an S1 - the S1 is likely to be a much more user-friendly camera than the BM cameras, which are basically divas.
In terms of colour and image, nothing beats RAW, and nothing beats a colour matching scheme that works on RAW.
In terms of @austinchimp comment around colour matching, I've found the GHa LUTs to be extremely finicky to use in practice, and they only really work when conditions are basically perfect.  This is because they don't completely reverse the colour science back to what the sensor reads out, so some of the colour science in the Pana cameras remains.  This is why there are two separate LUTs for different white balances.
Alternatively, Juan Melara did some excellent work replicating ARRI RAW from an Alexa from the BM cameras, which works on the RAW from the P4K or P6K (they're different LUTs IIRC) which is likely to be a much more robust emulation of the colour.
I can understand if you're not loving the texture of a compressed file, but if you're not getting good colour out of your S1 then I'd say you're expecting too much at your skill level.  As a reality check, I'd suggest going and downloading a bunch of Alexa clips and grading them to see what they're like.  Alexa footage looks great when shot by a serious pro and once a professional colourist has done their magic, but looking at the RAW footage taken in less-than-ideal situations is a great way to "add some perspective" about how much of a great image is the camera, and how much is the colourist.
    *hint - it's the colourist*

Aren't their drones (the big ones at least) completely modular?  You can buy the X3 and X5 and X5R separately, right?
So, maybe this thing might be compatible in some way that isn't obvious?
If they could make it so that as a wedding photographer or adventure photographer or event photographer you could buy all your equipment from DJI, that would be a pretty sweet kind of lock-in.  In this new world where every brand wants you to get locked into their eco-system, DJI are the natural choice to go first.  Much more likely than Canon or Panasonic or Blackmagic are to release a drone...
DJI have been in the camera business for a long time already, and already make cameras and lenses.  This includes:
the X5S which is an interchangeable MFT camera which shoot 5.2K 12-bit RAW CinemaDNG and Prores internally the X7 which is a S35 sensor and shoots 6K CinemaDNG and claims 14 stops of DR the Z30 which is a 1/2.8" with fixed lens with a 30x optical zoom These are not specs to be dismissed, and if they go all-out then there's no reason they couldn't make an impressive camera, and with a 30X zoom drone camera already released then maybe it could also have stabilisation that no-one could touch.

The funny thing is, the bigger budget shoots I have been on, getting to use larger, nicer cinema cams, I usually also have a whole team of art design, beautiful set dec, gaffers and grip lighting everything so nicely, photogenic pro talent, hmu artists... By the time I get around to hitting the red button everything already looks incredible. Lighting is dialed, everything pre-planned, I don't really feel like I need the DR and flexibility of the high-end cine gear because it already looks incredible in-camera, and still would with much cheaper gear.
Contrast that with lower budget, run-and-gun stuff, that's when I'm going to potentially miss white balance or not be lighting as well and having to push the camera harder.
My point being, it's kind of ironic that on higher end work everything is so dialed in around the camera that raw, extreme DR, amazing color science, etc., is kind of a moot point, and it's on low budget work that I often really wish I could have that level of quality and flexibility to make up for other areas that are lacking.

The world is sliding again into the standard dark places it always seems to eventually go --and the anxiety of our lives reflect this.  The scales of the internet have violently tipped to manipulation and exploitation and the earnest golly-gee-wiz of it all is long gone.  Hard things to rally against it, but it's just the reality of it all.
Your site reflects what the net used to be.  Anyway, EOSHD is a refuge because fo that.
Thanks for getting me into LUMIX.  I wouldn't have even considered M43 without your reviews.  Glad I did because it's been a perfect platform fit for me.

    You should mention actors again.
tbf, we had a good cast and a chill set.  Still barely held it together.  Can't imagine how it is for productions that have personality issues on set.
Heck of a lot different than doc, where it's just my wife and I and the few people we're filming...

Xavier Plagaro Mussard reacted to Tobias Mennle in An EOSHD Interview with Yosuke Yamane - Are Panasonic working on an L-mount cinema camera?
I was pleased to find this interview, but learned very little from it, because most urgent question is: Where is EVA2/Varicam LT with S1H sensor or better.
Panasonic organic sensor is a big hope, as it would make NDs irrelevant, which can probably not be incorporated into L-mount cameras with an IBIS.
The S1H is amazing and a great B-camera for my 5 year old Varicam LT. Although imagewise the S1H is rather the A-camera now.
But rigging up the S1H for my needs is a nightmare and will always be a compromise in terms of usability.
Where is EVA2 with S1H image pipeline??? It´s a damn long wait.
Then Varicam LT with organic sensor.
I hope the wait is worth it.

    @Andrew Reid
If you keep a list of things to poke camera manufacturers about, add 32bit float audio to the lineup. IMO it would be a paradigm shift in “scratch” and on-camera audio to include even a decent float system. Heck, a simplicity-first company like Blackmagic Design could do away with audio controls in float mode entirely, opting only for a headphone volume control (or even auto level monitoring).
I use a 32bit float recorder at work all the time, and I literally don’t have to think about its operation beyond power-up, verification of the mic signal, and hitting the record button.

Thought of that, don't have time. I am putting slight color burn transitions over them, and punching in or panning, so I've definitely modified them. I will probably put a text-on-screen crediting each publication and date, much as Anaconda recommended.
