On a side note to sharpness. Same thing goes for every new iteration of a camera. I've got a 5DIII and I'm yet to produce something which looks remotely close to what some folks have already produced with this camera or even worse cameras and much worse glass than I own. I've given up on upgrading until I actually use my camera to the full potential and definitely going to skip everything until canikon release their FF mirrorless cameras. Until that, I've got a ton of other things I must improve on... Once this is sorted I hope I'll find a product which has the following: 8K RAW (for cropping to 4k) + lighter options, 5-axis IS, usable ISO 25k, DPAF 2.0

hehe, the ultimate pixel peepers' thread. You guys are crazy ! So to see a difference you have to actually stop moving image, take one frame out, zoom said frame to 400% and on top of it draw an arrow pointing towards the difference because it's hardly to see it otherwise. It's a great exercise and I appreciate your findings but do you think this difference is going to make you more money or make you stand out from others? In my opinion thanks to your test I learned a valuable lesson. For my clients, I'm happy to use IPB and save space.

The GH5 is a fantastic camera, including for timelapse. While @Orangenz already answered most of your question I would add:
    - Smoothing Expo is not really a thing. AV mode and auto metering on Sony camera works very good though. However past a certain level of darkness the metering module is not working and you'll have to make the change manually. Personally I always lock everything in manual and change the expo manually (first shutter speed and then ISO). You can use Flicker Free which is great to correct minor flickering but for serious work there is only LRTimelapse (there is a free demo version that work with up to 400 frames, which is more than enough for most time-lapses). Otherwise you can try to set the camera in AV mode with auto ISO (and set a limit).
    - Two hours of battery life in time-lapse mode is not that bad actually. Turn off the screen (in the menu or close it physically) to increase the battery life. You can also reduce the brightness to the minimum.
    - Use a strong ND filter for daylight stuff, it makes such a big difference in quality. Pick an ND7 or ND10.
I did all this video and timelapse with the GH5. Superb camera except for very high ISO stuff like astro. I usually don't like to go over ISO 1600 with it but you can compensate with long exposure.

Since the algorithm is secret, and it was updated recently, it's impossible to know exactly the answer to this. However, if I was personally launching a new channel I wouldn't even consider less than two new uploads a week, each with a runtime of no less than 3.5 minutes.

tomekk reacted to jcs in Aronofsky's Mother! 16mm Genius
As I watched Aronofsky's Mother!, I noted how soft and noisy it was, figured 16mm film (it was: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5109784/technical?ref_=tt_dt_spec). Lots of handheld, close follow shots, POV pan-reveals, and overall genius-level unnerving camera motion and editing.
This is probably his best film to date: A+, 5/5 etc. Camera, color, editing, acting, story, lighting, music, sound, VFX, all top level work. He digs deep into the human psyche / ego / control / fear and doesn't let up 'once it starts' (you'll know what I mean when you see the film). For those who haven't studied psychology, it might seem incomprehensible. However while it works as an amazing horror movie even if it doesn't make sense, it's genius on so many other levels! Worth repeat watching to learn more, it's that good. Recommend not reading any reviews beforehand, and hopefully no spoilers are leaked in this thread.

Please, no more taxes, otherwise, we're going back to taxing everything based on one ideas of what's good or bad according to their own ideology and again - designing how people should live their life ;)! Let them just smoke (slowly kill themselves in other words) but what about denying them treatment for other people's money as a fair incentive/feedback, unless we develop robots that can treat them for free? Is it wrong if that's their choice and they know about it? If the goal is to empower people, we have to abandon current trend of steering people and deciding for them, don't we?

Diet also affects learning and behavior. Avoid or minimize sugar, caffeine, tobacco, and alcohol. Detox the body with herbs and supplements. Meditate and exercise every day. This will result in learning anything faster.
Actually creating content is the most valuable tool for learning photography and filmmaking. That's why many famous content creators advise against film school. Their suggestion is get out and shoot- a lot!

While it is true that individuals have little power to change the world compared to the masses, we still need independent individuals within the mass in order to find optimal directions of change.
As @jcs mentioned, the multidimensionality of ideas cannot be simplified to just left or right, especially with modern systems in which democracy is reduced to voting once every few years.
People need to play a more active role in which political discussions are always encouraged and never suppressed, and education should be the first and most important step for the evolution of every society.

Is it about salary? Where do people who want to buy them go in the first place? Don't they go to people in power who can change laws? How much they earn is secondary because it's not a problem for billionaires.
What about empowering people and reducing government's power. Weak government would, in reality, give power back to people. Corporations wouldn't even go to the government without any real power and would have much tougher time buying decentralised system.

Analytics can help show the way.
Something new is needed. Something like Functional Spirituality. That is, spiritual activities which if practiced can show real results: such as meditation, yoga, organic nutrition, and 'right thought'. Acknowledging that there are things in the universe that we don't currently understand. That we can mysteriously heal our bodies and help others heal theirs as well as change the world with our thoughts. Even more so with our actions and communications. Put these ideas into the Zeitgeist: get as many people thinking and talking about it as possible, by every means possible.
Documentaries, narratives, poetry, music, live streaming, festivals, film festivals, health services, coaching, nutritional products, etc. I'm thinking of starting a 501(c)(3) non profit organization for specifically this purpose, including local fellowship gatherings, perhaps held in traditional churches in Beverly Hills and/or Hollywood. A buddy is an amazing musician and he already plays in a church- we'd have live music too: fun, educational, with real tools to deal with life, and no preaching.

My idea would be to create different channels for different audiences as a part of a decentralised system. This way one team could focus, for example, on a direct approach and another on a metaphorical one etc. It would help to target people better, split workload and maximise potential of each team.

Absolutely. Here's my first go at creating a documentary along those lines, shot on the Canon 5D Mark III in 2012, created after I faced death and took a completely different view of the world (5 minutes long):
"How to Live" was a simplification of many ideas, and upon later reflection is perhaps too preachy as a title. Perhaps better: A Way to Live. The ideas are all based on science: math, physics, biology, and simulations. I now also look into the spiritual side of things, along with a lot more psychology.
After watching my documentary, someone recommended I study Alan Watts, and that changed my life too:
    https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=alan+watts
As amazing as Alan Watts was in explaining very tricky Zen and Taoist ideas (and more), it was (is) still perhaps too long and too deep for most people to have the patience to watch, listen, and study.
To start a viral change in global consciousness, we need very simple, easy to remember ideas that people can easily understand and share with others.

The idea is one thing, but implementation of it is another. We should create a secret society of filmmakers dedicated to change the world and work as a decentralised system to avoid shutting down ;). Stories with metaphors are good, but some people need more direct stories. I wouldn't limit myself to metaphorical stuff only ;). We should be producing all kind of stories and work on a lot of different levels to maximise reach ;).

I think I know what you mean, but don't people have different values and morals? Do you think, people choose morals and values themselves or they're external? In other words, don't they come from other people who shape their worldview from the youngest age? What about values and morals of the Al-Qaeda trained 5 year old kids - just thinking of an extreme example to illustrate my point.
Couldn't it be consumers dollar but not exactly entirely their choice? We all know, half the stuff we own we don't really need, don't we? GAS syndrome anyone? ;). If their free will is based on their values and their values are based on whoever shapes their worldview then is it really their choice in the end? LOL, it's getting confusing so I'll stop here ;).  I'll end with a TED talk that touches on the issue a little bit:

Are media in the US separated entities and nobody owns them? If someone owns them, isn't it logical that except money, they also follow (to some extent at least) core values of the owner(s)?
Is it consumers fault that they were born in a world where multi billion dollar companies know inside out human's psychology and know exactly how to shape their worldview/make them want to buy things etc. from the very young age? Is it a level playing field?

There is not really much content we can use to enjoy true 4k resolution in ours beautiful 4k screens, is there? I mean, I know that "The Smurfs 2" used Sony F65 exclusively but that's not exactly my genre ;). What else is there guys? Usually it's F65 alongside something else. It would be nice to have a benchmark movie for 4k besides the smurfs ;).
