Thanks @BTM_Pix!  I now have CineLike D on my GX85!  Would it be possible to unlock or add the ability to shoot in the 4:3 aspect ratio in 24p 4K?  The camera only allows 16:9.  I can shoot video in 4:3 using the 4K Burst (S/S) mode, but that's 30p.  I'd like to use my 2X anamorphic attachment using the 4:3 aspect ratio.

So it just dawned on me that you can ape the Digital Bolex raw look for £100 with an EOS M + Magic Lantern.
Yes, it's an APS-C sensor, so you'd need to go to about 1536x518 for a 1.8x crop 16:9 to avoid vignetting on 25mm lens.
GH2 was 1.8x crop and I've had Super 16mm stuff work fine on it.
So has anyone actually tried a bunch of c-mount lenses on the EOS M and has any recommendations? Also for decent adapters? Arriflex S16 adapter also would be handy.
And before anybody says "just get a Blackmagic pocket cinema camera", remember the EOS M is £100 used body only and does 18MP stills  Way more fun!!

Hard for me to compare the AF speed because I have 1 1Dx II, 1 1Dx and the M5 so in term of AF they are a bit on the extreme opposite. The DPAF on 1Dx II and the M5 seems to me about the same in term of speed with FF EF lenses. Still the 1Dx II is quite a bit faster with phase detect AF than in DPAF.
On the M5 I use the native M 11-22 and 22 2.0 and I use quite a bit the EF 50 1.2 adapted that works quite well in term of AF, I also use the 8-15 Fisheye and sometime the 24-105 F4. The M5 is for sure not an action camera... but the problem is not too much the AF but the VF blackout.
Bottom-line in video the AF speed of an adapted FF EF lenses is very similar between 1DxII and M5, for photo the 1DxII is quite a bit snappier when not in live view. As I said before DPAF becomes quite slow when using long lenses.

Just to chime in, I have found the 22 on my eos m1 to be an awesome little lens, and the 18-55 is pretty good too I reckon

So on the M5 the 24 1.4 L it is a fraction quicker than the 22 2.0 but the difference is very small and imo not relevant. Both are very usable.
In general with DPAF the shorter the focal length is the more similar with phase detection DSLR AF speed is. For example the 24 1.4 there almost no difference between DPAF and phase detect but with the 200-400 f4 at 400 the difference is quite big.
Naturally it is a big difference in FL 35 to 22 so not sure why you want to compare them but IMO the 22 2.0 is a little gem so small yet sharp. The AF is a bit noisier than classical USM lenses. In term of size there is really no contest: http://camerasize.com/compact/#684.349,684.368.2,ha,t. It is also half the price.

The buffer is much better than the original M and it is around 18-20 Raw photos and it takes around 8-10 seconds to clear it. It seems big but when you shoot at 7 or 9 fps it is just a two second burst and then you need to wait 10 seconds.... Not sure what it means in regards for RAW video assuming that there will ever be a ML for the M5
Btw the original M was the slowest camera that I ever had.

I have an M5 and is my travel camera mostly for photos because my 1dx and 1dx II are too big for that. I had a M before but the M5 it is much better.
I also use the M5 as remote camera or as wide angle second body for some stuff that I cover.
I have only the 11-22 and the 22 2.0 for the rest I use my EF collection.

Regarding video I have used only a couple of time a C camera and it is just ok very similar to the 80D, classical canon 1080p

    For photos:
    The good:
+ photo quality, it is good with good DR finally at 100-400 ISO. Classical Canon sensor so I process the Raws as I do with the one for 1Dx. M5 more noisy but to be expected
    + ergonomics
    + touch screen
+ touch screen even when off can be used to change focus point while looking in to EVF, very handy
    + remote port
    + 7/9 fps
+ DPAF very accurate and works even low light. Fast but not blazingly fast.
    + size
+ 11-22 is very very good with IS and tiny and quite affordable. This is why I use it a lot as a second body for wide-angle shoots.
+ 22 2.0 is also very good and super tiny and cheap. A bit slow on the AF side but still usable
+ adapter works well and most EF lens AF work well and quite fast. I have used quite a bit the 24 1.4 and 50 1.2 on it and with great success. I also use the 8-15 fisheye on it quite often
    + wifi
    The bad:
    - small buffer in RAW
    - takes a lot of time to clear the buffer
    - much slower than the 1dx in operations like picture review, etc…
    - EVF is not great but I hate EVF so maybe I’m not the right guy to comment on it
    - no live view while taking burst. A no go for action/sport
    - no fully silent mode (fully electronic shutter). Why why and one more time why?!?

    For video:
+ DPAF very similar to the 1DXII
    + 60fps same quality as 30fps
    + canon colors
    - no 4k
    - classical soft canon 1080
    - less bitrate than the 80D

I would not recommend it as primary camera for video there are better choice in the price range.
Where it shines is a travel, backup and eventually B/C camera for canon user thanks to the tiny size but full support including good AF with the EF lens. If my primary system would not be a canon I would not have brought the M5 but for my need is quite good. Of course if it would have had 4k 30p even only at 4:2:0 100 mbits would have been much better for video.

Wow man... Panasonic should hire you!
You just unlocked a world of colors for these cameras!
Would be possible to create a color profile to match Andrew's Eoshd C-log for ALL Canon cameras (it's not a real log profile soo..) ?
How cool would be have a Red and a Canon color profiles to easily match cameras?

Don't get me wrong, Canon infuriates me sometimes. Within the next 6 months I am probably going to re-enter the 4K market. I was hoping it was going to be the 6Dii but now it looks like they're not going to include 4K in their $2000 camera. I find that to be absolutely ridiculous and non sensical. If the rumored FF mirrorless is released by the end of the year and it has 4K, I will probably be a customer. I already have a couple EF lenses. Since I'm in no rush right now to get a 4K camera, I can wait a while, but if they don't include 4K in that FF mirrorless, then I will probably sell my EF lenses, shoot ML Raw with my Nikkors and then probably get an Olympus or a GH5... as much as I don't really want a GH5, you are right, the features are undeniable.
Of course I could go with a D7500 as well and be just as happy as I would with a Canon... even though the crop in 4K is mildly irritating... the footage I've seen from the D500 with its identical sensor and video features, has been pretty impressive.
In the meantime, I am looking for a pocket/glove box cam. Something casual for snapshots and the occasional video. I would rather have Canon color and good autofocus, plus 60p for slow motion. That cam I will buy by the end of the summer and it will most likely be either the G7Xii or the EOS-M6. I haven't decided yet. But I love the video I posted earlier from the G7Xii so I am leaning in that direction. The color, IS and focus tracking looks phenomenal to me... for what it is.
Also, Canon gets knocked a lot for their soft 1080p, but when I see video shot well with a Canon DSLR, it makes me happy. I don't ever think if only that was in 4K, it would be better. I mean look at this video. It was mostly shot with a Canon t5i and some shots with a G85, and even though I can pretty much pick out the shots that are Panny, I didn't like the rest of the video any less, in fact I would have been happy if the G85 shots weren't included...

    It is indeed.
Its a bit unfair on the GX85 to be honest because, as I suspected might happen with this prodder, there are some presumptions we make over its settings that might not be doing it any favours if all we're doing is correcting them with the exact inverse settings in post. And from the tweaks I was making in FCPX, I think thats exactly the case here as I was putting things in that I'd taken out in the profile so I think it can be done better.
Which obviously I'll be trying to do.
Iphone to Alexa is easy. Just wait about five years !
Obviously once you have it with roughly the same signature as the RED Film it will follow this through when you add FilmConvert etc and pick the RED Film preset.

now THIS is more like the arguments I was looking for. When it comes to the GH4 (and 5 - as well as any Canon shooting ML RAW) I know they have increased sensor height when shooting 4:3, but most people requesting the feature just seem to neglect that.
I didn't mention before, but this thread is a case study for an upcoming episode. I want to make people realize that "just" a 4:3 crop is no big deal. :P

    Yeah... For sure.
But you don't have a m4/3 camera with a Sony sensor,  4:3 aspect ratio,  good 2k resolution, good colors for that price ($450 with kit lens). I think it could be a fun camera B (or even C!). And i still think a hack would be possible...

I can see only 2 dark spots regarding this camera till now. One is the auto focus performance, as mentioned above, and the other is what panasonic calls Three-Dimensional Color Control. If AF is indeed 2 times faster than gh4 and 3DCC actually helps the user to get rid off that ugly orange skintones, even with tweaking, this will be a dream video camera. Again, fingers crossed....
