Ok, I'll admit, I'm drooling over the Bolex Body Gloves...  est price for the non-gold version?

And will the big one work on a Cinelux with the front flaps?

First of all I DO NOT  encourage you to do this, as you may damage your lens, don't blame me if you do damage your lens I followed Richg101 tutorial on how to do this.
You can use whatever tool you feel comfortable with, I used a sort of Dremel, I protected the lens with a clean film to avoid the dust going inside the lens.
Once the lips came off, I've used a grinder to smooth the surface of the cutting parts, I then cut the little iron knob to adjust the focus at the same level and made a cut in between so that I can screw in and out the knob with a screw driver, be very careful though, don't go  to flat with it.
Good luck and let me know how it goes.
    I hope it helped!

Does anyone know how to get hold of Sony's division responsible for the firmware? We need a 4:3 video option as well :)

Found this somewhere else, haven't tried it yet but...

Go to HDMI Settings on the last menu group and once you select that you'll see HDMI Info Display. Turn that off. That will put the video on your monitor without the info, but the LCD will still work and it will have all the info on it.

What a couple of rubes!  (The Canon reps, I mean.) That was fucking pathetic!

Quote: "The application of the technology is still good, it’s still simple, but the specification is looking ‘lesser’ compared to the competition at the same price.
John: No! I don’t agree with that."

Grade A bullshit right there.  A7S, GH4, Blackmagic all destroy the Canon offerings for video.

I think this interview says a great deal about what Canon thinks of the DSLR video user.  Thank you Andrew, great job!

Utterly pathetic stance by Canon.  They really don't care about dslr video shooters.  Regarding the 7D mark 2...I am interested to see what Magic Lantern people are able to get out of it.  60fps magic lantern raw would be of interest to me.  Other than that...I have no reason to look at any dlsr cameras from Canon anymore for video applications.

Had this one brewing for a while.   Shot in anamorphic to accentuate just how irritating vertical video is.  Not for the easily offended.  Bring your sense of humor.  Shot on A7s in Slog2, Nikon 50mm & Bolex/Moller 1.5

FWIW, I had an A7 out on a music video shoot yesterday & it performed like a champ.  Shot on & off for about 12 hours.  Went through three batteries & didn't even fill up a single 64 gig card.

After messing with ML Raw on a 70D, then the Blackmagic Pocket, not to mention having a GH4 for about 4 days, I think I'm ready to settle down with the A7s.

It's amazing in low light, and grades very, very easily.   It's rock solid stable, and is so much easier to work with than the BM pocket.  (battery life, storage, screen/viewfinder)

Clients were blown away by the images.  This thing rocks in Slow Motion! :)

Yes the A7s is hard to judge exposure with. I found using zebras is the best way to protect the highlights. If you set them at 100 IRE and you see them adjust your exposure a little until they are gone.

The histogram works from left to right as opposed to a waveform.
You will know if you're clipping when a straight line on the right starts creeping up. same goes with crushing the blacks but on the left.I cant upload an image so >here is a link

Well, I had two of the CN600. One of em literally fried itself after four years. That's not bad for 100 quid.

I have to disagree on redheads for beginners, simply because the heat and fragility makes them impractical.

I'd get LED but yes buy diffusion and half CTO gels in sheets.

Also lots of blackwrap to shape the light and reduce spill.

Spill and lackof diffusion makes things look more amateur.

Try Master Pedestal + 15. That seems to allocate more bitrate to the shadows and stops them from crushing so much.

Then I lift the bottom of my s-curve in Premiere like Kendy Ty does with his T2i.

That gives me rich tonality and colour but with more detail in the blacks.

Also depends on the exposure. James Miller has had some nice shadows out of it

I used to own a R1 MX. I thought if took outstanding footage that no DSLR could touch in terms of colorspace and DR. If I were in the market, I'd buy one over the new BMC shoulder cam or AJA scion. You'd probably score one for 7-8 grand US.

The one question I have is: how does the gh4 stack up against the original Red One? A lot of movies I enjoy were shot on the Red, and I'm curious as to just how far technology has advanced over the last few years.
