The 3:2 full frame 6k is great for the marketing world. We normally have to shoot two or three times for 16:9, 1:1 and vertical video. 3:2 gives us a lot more flexibility.

Framing in post is definitely a thing, but I could never learn to shoot wider than what I needed - my framing while shooting habits were too strong!  The extra resolution definitely wouldn't go astray for you either.

Yeah we are forgetting 6K is up there with the big boys. When we Really find out all the specs it might be one of the best FF Hybrids you can buy if you are really serious about this stuff. We sure arn't going to buy any of the big boy toys.

I just saw some footage from DJI's new action cam. HDR video! WTF? Sometimes I wonder why I dropped $5K on a camera setup when I could just shoot my real estate vids on an action cam, and most people wouldn't notice the difference. I just bought the 14-30 lens for my z6, and I'll buy the mozo aircross 2 to replace my ronin-s when it comes out, because 3.6kg of camera setup is killing me. But to think someone could just buy this and a wee gimbal, or the pocket osmo, and even begin to compete is head scratching.

Can't stress enough how much better the Mavic 2 Pro is vs the old one, even though the whole 1" camera seem like rushed from DJI and has some unexpected flaws. The 10 bit 1" sensor is there.

I posted this because of some footage I'd seen. Honestly it was nearly shit enough for a $500 camera. It had no right to be so good. It made me positively angry.  😆

well whatever you do, you always try and make it as good as possible, but even a year ago you wouldn't have thought about shooting on an action cam. It reminds me of the printing industry 20 years ago. People were going bust all over the place because they were still paying off 100's of thousands of dollars worth of kit, and were being out-competed by startups using kit 1/10th of the cost, quicker and easier to use, and cheaper to run.  For $500 aud, I might have to get one, just to see. I could attach it to my current setup and would hardly feel the weight difference!

I just quoted on a job. Required 3 trips to location, 3 lots of drone work and shooting on a roof and a little interview.
I quoted $2200 Aud (about 1500 usd) for a 2-3 min finished vid or $275 per hour  ($195usd) for the raw footage, only.  Got message back that he didn't have a lot of money to spend on the vid, and ultimately that i was too expensive, and I just wonder what folk expect when they phone about that sort of job. $500? I am seeing this more and more. Time to give up on video and become a plumber.

That seems like quite a price gouge for buying that lens as a separate item from its bundle value of £700 in the original leak yesterday.
    ------------------------
    LUMIX S1R
Overseas price: Body 3, 399 GBP, lens kit 4, 199 GBP
    LUMIX S1
Overseas price: Body 2,199 GBP, lens kit 2,999 GBP
    ------------------------
Those prices seem fairly accurate based on today's leak of a UK dealer's page (which looks like Park Cameras based on the styling) and would put the battery grip at about £200

I said the other day in a thread that camera prices were reaching levels that my outdated valuation scale deemed to be getting a bit excessive and even bearing that in mind I'm still looking at that price of £4348 for a camera with an f4 kit lens and thinking "blimey".
And the least said about the £5448 for a camera with a 50mm f1.4 lens the better
I don't think the prices are excessive compared to other FF offerings necessarily just that they probably should have been cheaper to get their foot in that particular door.
I think they'll have an uphill battle for quite a while trying to establish the Panasonic brand in that kind of territory with stills shooters.
For Panasonic's higher end stills shooters, its a massive leap to go from a G9 to that anyway, let alone when you can't take your lenses with you so I'm not sure how much brand loyalty they can rely on in this instance.
The alliance as a whole isn't just about these two cameras in isolation though so the landscape might look a lot different in a year's time when Sigma's lenses and new SD Quattro's are available with that mount as well as subsequent Leica models.

Yes, Nikon is one of the top choices for video (arguably the #1 choice), yet their perception is not even "mid back" but "last" (ignored alongside with Pentax etc).

Nikon has a serious marketing problem, and giving us raw video from a $2K full frame mirrorless exactly what they need to do to make heads turn and finally pay attention.

I just finished my first shoot where I used the z6 for all the video shooting.  Was a bit painful to shoot (z6+14-24f2.8+ronin-s), but a total joy to grade.  The house was pretty easy to shoot though, nowhere near the dynamic range of some properties I shoot, it'll be interesting to see how it fares with them.  The ronin-s is miles better than the crane 2 for me. virtually no jitter even with the humongous cam and lens combo.  Good job too because the rolling shutter makes warp stabiliser a bit hit and miss.  I know some people have complained about the slomo, but I think its better than the gh5's. I spent the first few weeks telling my partner I was going to sell it, but just like the d5500, I'm loving the image.  Foibles: flicker from lights. I assume this is to do with the slow readout too.  Never had this issue with GH5. Its fine if I leave the shutter on 1/100 or 1/50th, but problematic if I want to use an auto mode.  I noticed some flicker on manual with auto iso. Have no idea why that should happen.  I know people dont post there own work a lot on here, I think more people should.

Can't really say I agree. You don't need a 10 bit monitor to utilize 10 bit, you don't need a monitor to display 15 stops to utilize an Alexa's DR, and you don't need a 4k monitor to benefit from 4k. That said I was heavily considering the C100 but the auto focus was just not good enough for me (center only). I agree that any of these hybrid cameras are not the best A cams in regards to form factor and you're right there is no step up above an XT3. You can always use them as a b cam but lenses wouldn't be compatible across the board.
