Did you apply sharpening in post to match the two?

I've found that you can do some pretty horrific things that make footage softer but sharpening in post can compensate to the point where you can't distinguish in a blind test.

Not much point in paying hundreds / thousands more for "sharper" equipment if the same thing can be done in post with one slider....

    no sharpening applied

The A1 8k is less sharp than the A7S3 4K?

i haven't tested the 8k yet but 4k for 4k I found the a7s3 to be way sharper, to the point my clients knew I changed camera when I sent them raw footage

Thank you. Have you noticed any difference at all in AF performance between the 2?

DEFINITELY, the sony 24mm just locks on the subject instantly and never loses focus until the subject isnt in frame whilst the zeiss 25mm is good but it loses focus here and there, its still good but nothing like the sony. The zeiss image just looks better tbh

Just checked on my 11.4 system and the required folder does exist:

    /Users/MACUSERNAME/Library/Application Support/ProApps/Effects Presets/

Maybe try creating the folder if it is missing, and the Effects should then be available in FCPX.

hi andrew i bought the pro color 5 and i have yet to receive it

It's dark in post or just when looking at the on camera screen? I think the A7S3 screen is just crappy. Log also has very little color or contrast so it looks dark until corrected in post.

    its dark on the screen

  6. so i bought the sony a7s3, I notice even though my exposure meter is set at 0.0 on the screen the image is dark, anybody else experiencing this problem?

  10. I need a machine for editing videos only, nothing fancy. I edit on a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009), 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB. When adding effects and doing color correction play back in FCPX isn't smooth, my laptop struggles a bit. I just need something thats better than what I have now that will just make my work flow run smoothly when I start adding effects and colors. I don't need the latest and newest components and the parts could be used or refurbished, not trying to break my wallent. Any suggestions?

  11. C-Mount lenses can be a great solution for lowlight video. I personally love them. But, there is a lot of funkiness involved with adapting them. For instance, the Cosmicar should cover the sensor perfectly, but I do not think it will fit in a c-mount adapter without modifying the back of the lens. Another potential issue is infinity focus, on some lenses adjustments need to be made to insure infinity focus. If you like to tinker with things and don't mind trial and error, you can get some amazing images with c-mount lenses that, IMO, offer an in camera film look.

any idea if it will vignette?

  12. hey guys quick question. I have a GH3 and i'm into low light video shooting in clubs, catching people dance basically enjoying themselves, are these lens any good for my purpose

    Bolex Switar 25mm f1.4 H16 RX C-mount lens

  13. can anyone help..

    Camera - GH3
    Lens - Panasonic lumix 12-35mm

Problem - I film alot of night scenes with a led attached to my camera. If I'm filming people wearing colorful clothing my lens/camera works fine, everything is nice and bright on my screen but if I move to people wearing white clothing the people and screen tends to get darker. I'm filming in manual mode so I don't know why this is happening...
