Emanuel got a reaction from Neumann Films in GH5 Prototype
Hey Luke, now your "like" button has puzzled me. What the hell APS-C is doing right there? And the whole 4/3" format glass thing?!
Ain't you under NDA on GH5 development??
Will the new glass add-ons be S35??!

Aren't all cameras that capture motion picture images capable of this?

Dogma 95 consolidated the hype. Brecht's Verfremdungseffekt / V-effekt can mirror that. But, the fact is the suspension of disbelief requires to make the editing transparent. That is, if you're willing to sell "your reality" as real.

Yes, as far as they say. So, 24p, if present, would be higher.

Right. For some reason ; ) 1080p from their DSLR line since they introduced the thrill 8 years ago with 5DII, is not the best find out there... ;-)

I completely fail to see this. A GH4 is vastly preferable to use than a Canon DSLR.
Strongly suspect that the massive majority of preferences for Canon's so called "ergonomics" is just to the *huge* number of ex (or current) Canon shooters, thus saying "ergonomics" is just a code word for "familiar". There is nothing truly great about Canon's DSLR ergonomics for filming with, it is just "what we are used to" (personally I'd rather take a Nikon for stills!).

It is very hard to please people these days. When one company finally brings 4K 60p and at the same time 4K 10bit 422 internaly to the masses (that we all whined about for a few years), now all of a sudden it is not that important. Sorry Panasonic we were just kidding, we don't actually need better image quality, we need autofocus that is connected to our brain so we can shoot, read magazines and drink coffee at the same time.

The question is, a one stop improvement over what? The G7 already had a 1-1.5 stop improvement over the GH4. Is the GH5 on par with that? Or an additional 1-1.5 stop improvement?

So far it's just rumors but still boring specs. Knowing the Canon trend to cripple its DSLR I'm not very optimistic. First it's only 4k30p, then the huge deal breaker of MJPEG with massive file size and need to transcode. It's like Canon can't ignore 4k anymore but wants us to feel the pain of using it.
We can probably also forget about peaking and zebra. LOG i don't know but the 1DX doesn't have it. And is that going to be cropped ? What about aliasing and 4K quality, is that going to be like the usual Canon 1080 that looks like 720 ?
Last we have DPAF, that's great but if the image sucks and the video features are non existent, the benefit is very small. Looks like I'm going to keep my current camera and wait for the next Sony or GH line....
Conclusion: after holding it for as long as possible, Canon is finally jumping in the 4K train but in the worst possible way with weird specs that are going to be severely outdated in a few month by the upcoming competition that will to give us 4K60 and 6K30 soon. In 3 or 4 years I can't even imagine how theses ridiculous specs will look like...

I was DoP for part of this:
The director was himself one of the key leads! Good idea really, as it was a long slog. 5yrs in the making!
My Tascam DR60D has this feature.

So, Ed has been the most prolific poster on the subject matter. The negotiator. I think everyone must respect the word he has given.
On Ebrahim, don't you see all of you the kid has trouble to deal with certain aspects of reality or life?
What do we need? To call a psychiatrist and ask opinion on his behaviour? BTW, on this collective rage against him too, why not?
Isn't Timotheus physician? Anyway, take a look on his input:

OK, Ebrahim, you're doing your part now. Thanks.
Past is past. Only present can stand corrected and you're doing your role to finish and be complied with the refund. It must be, of course.
This is NOT proper of a scammer, OK?
Any insult to be posted here is mere abuse and derogatory of the poster behind. I've seen the poster Ebrahim to lie without mention his crime but I've never seen him to insult any one of you, his detractors included. As same as all of his posts I've read for years. There's only a poster from his account, now I firmly believe so.
This polite attitude has earned my respect and admiration. The humble tone and above all, his most recent posts. Oh yes, I'd feel comfortable to invite him to have dinner at my home now. And I'll be glad to meet him personally if/when there will be a chance for.
Let him fulfill his word to everyone. A wise community is the one balanced and fair. He deserves a second chance as all of us when we are wrong. Who didn't commit a mistake in life? There are different grades for sure. To accept the difference is also a proof of decency. I'd even dare to write: M-A-N-D-A-T-O-R-Y. Don't ask what you can't give back.

That is a very decent thing you did Ed, giving him a way out. No its on him to show he deserves it.

Yep, and the importance of maintaining a healthy online reputation.
In the UK, and I guess other countries too, employers are now checking the online presence and social media profiles of applicants.
Type in "Ebrahim Saadawi" into Google and this thread comes up half way up the first page for me. That is potentially a big problem.
