Exactly? : ) I don't see anything wrong on a transition period, just the fact the value of a brand like Olympus to vanish into thin air when this means an investment of decades if not a whole century... Brand registered in 1921. First camera with that exact name in 1936. It hurts only to hear that. And I'm speaking not only as camera lover but manager :- )

That said, I obviously agree with everything other written : ) I doubt though for any grace period over that or the lawyers working there follow the norm and are no less stupid too! LOL :- )

That's not killing : ) No one can kill what by itself is already killed ; ) In any case, who or what let it to be killed is still out of the tune, i.e., plain stupid, so the premise stands. To erect a brand is not a little thing. The problem is many of those who do it have no clue at all about it :- ) Many of players working in this industry and many others by the way are full stupid. The trouble I see here or in other places is that many geeks like us because they feel it that way tend deify their stupid decisions and justify them like they are not.

To create a second brand is a whole distinct story though ;- )

I am all pro small devices... BTW currently in love with the (sharp) 8K 24p AcePro without mention some usual handy simple tricks to make it closer to a full camera experience so, why not smartphones and alike? ; ) The fact stands though, no matter what: Is there a much more significant experience that the pleasure impact other than handling a real camera with a lens attached and full control through a lens ring? Now once again, Samsung. Pity they had abandoned the way (forget the British blonde and focus on the leftover as myself these days collecting a few of those glass marvelous pieces plenty of technology : ) camera users could find the pleasure to hold a lens and discover how it is everything connected with organic form factor shooting much more than just point and shoot. After all, the writer makes the words as much as exquisite cuisine distinguishes from fast food. Who like me loves or knows how to appreciate an Italian ice cream or Michelangelo Antonioni as for instance, knows very well what I'm taking about ;- )

This camera model has arrived to my hands because of the 3D feature going along 45mm f/1.8 and fell immediately in love for the retro look and form factor. Love its small size. The 1.6x crop of the 4K mode doesn't bother me at all when there are good wideangle zooms you can add there such as Tokinas 11-20mm f/2.8 or my 11-16mm f/2.8 (PL mount mod). I didn't! LOL ;- )

There are many times you won't have any other device with you and the best camera is the one you hold with you in your hands when needed. It doesn't exist that, only a camera : ) You buy a system, not a camera. Full of many lenses and so on. A camera looks a camera. I give you an example, no, two. June 29, 2023. Public event. People don't like to be shot. Law is at shooter's disposal. Public place in that jurisdiction means consentment for acquisition. Its usage is something different, in any case no one can impede you to shoot in any way other than when start to threat the camera crew. January 1, 2024. Identical episode. In the beginning, only because of the capture devices used, people in a public event had no idea they were filmed. So, spontaneous footage with people dancing and so on was possible to gather and gather. Until the moment, people realize where the cameras are. End of fun. End of good footage. Here are two examples where the PRO device is the one capable to still produce footage in the memory card or any other storage location. Get the idea? This means a lot to those involved in the field. The point is the technology is there. These people of Back-Bone, Beastgrip and so one, they are solid players to really help the independent film communities. Playing the part of the film crews twenty years ago doesn't help at all, just for the sake of the art and this craft, if not anything else :- ) Speaking of devil...

This is the fine example of a juicy thread ; ) Pity we cannot express all the feelings we have towards what we read. A special mention though to a couple among my favs now @QuickHitRecord@kye despite to never undersestimate the contribution of everyone of you... : ) I think it's one of the flaws here when people tend to neglect any of the voices heard. Every simgle one of you always have something to bring for our lives, so take care of each one of you. Your milestones, presence, daily life, even your beloved ones and part of your being, expressed in your stories posted in these lines, reach some other people here. Maybe not everyone but the ones to count. I believe a bit more of love and compassion for the other one is never enough either. To read this or that had this or that misfortune is something we should meditate about and feel sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings of others, as well share their achievements and joy with zero envy.
