Considering Apple obsession with thinness, I'm not sure they ever use 1 inch sensor.

Its funny that rage against the AI killed them, not the AI itself.

ND64 got a reaction from IronFilm in Next to be obsolete: Making a living
The other day I randomly observed an interaction between an instagram influencer and her follower in comments  section of one of her reels where she was bragging about an old compact Sony handycam she found on ebay and loved the image "vibe", which means the worst quality you expect from some P&S cameras. The follower said I love that camera makers increase resolution in every generation and we sill looking for crappy film look! (Btw, that wasn't film look at all, it was 30fps washed out ccd soap opera video). And the influencer replied resolution is for commercials!
This should be a wake up call for everybody in this industry (not just Japanese, but even DJI and Apple): these people don't care anymore! All they need/want is vertical 30fps 2MP image! Then I asked myself am I even prepared to market my art/content to these consumers? We're in such a "fad economy" that "better" becomes obsolete, and "worse" sells better! Those who know what will be the next worse thing, make tons of money; and people like us have to check how much we earned today through "buy me a coffee" link lol.

If you were a 22 years old vlogger, you would buy FX30. Not because its a better camera, but because you've seen it in hand of many of other vloggers you are trying to replicate their style of work. Sony marketing has established a collective belief that if you wanna do video, you've got to use Sony. You can't beat a better marketing with better IBIS.

Not always. If the one who leaks the specs is a photographer who has access to pre-production unit, would exaggerate about the experience, like "AF is two generation ahead of the competition". You know its probably not true, but you know why he would make that statement. That's different from a bullshitter that think sensor resolution determines the price, or a single model changes overall market share in a meaningful way, and does it instantly!

They're so low volume in sales that using unique sensor is out of question. So expect to see a familiar sensor used by others. I would choose A1. They can't afford to not have 8k camera in 2024.

I'm genuinely interested to hear Atomos customer's opinions and feedback in the comeback of Jeromy.
    Good or bad? Indifferent?
Their Apple recruit Estelle was treated extremely badly if you read what was reported in the media.
In my opinion Atomos gear owners must feel a bit like those who have bought into the whole Tesla trend, spent $$ on a car, only to have Elon out himself as a drug addicted far right incel. It would make me want to sell it.
Whether it be alleged substance abuse or bullying or sexual assault at the top of an organisation that relies on team work - THAT is a recipe for a serious downfall. Look at the declining fortunes of Red Bull's F1 team since the Horner sex abuse controversy. Staff CVs been going out all over, the team moral is on the floor.
We of course only determine stuff second hand via journalism so I don't know what happened with Jeromy for sure other than the covid law breaking incidents that are a matter of absolute fact.
None of us were there, but it leaves a very bad impression that he has been allowed back into the fold especially parachuted back into the most senior role there is.

Both brands refuse to add an option to let the user experience other brand's approach. Nikon's approach gives a stable EVF, but poor AF performance at low light, which created this widespread notion that their AF system is a generation behind compared to competition, whereas in reality its just getting less light. Funny thing is they tried to address this issue with introduction of 30fps EVF feed at low light, which created laggy image in panning movements and worsened the EVF experience. DPR, Petapixel, or youtubers didn't push them to let the user choose the tradeoff depending on his/her priority.

People would still buy their products with all the reputation wreck behind the brand if the product had a good value proposition, just look how Elon still manages to sell expensive cars.

When I opened the link I thought the most alarming thing in the video is that how fast Jeromy is gaining weight! Then I saw a comment by a random user claiming to be former employee, was making fun of him referring to his smoking of white powder in his office, which CineD deleted. But the real sad part was the technical subject. When asked about the future, or "why people should buy your next product?" in a polite way, he had no answer but "higher frame rates"! He can't explain why external recorder is needed, in this day and age that even a $2500 camera records 6k60p raw internally. He just begs the camera makers to add even higher fps to the specs that their own outdated 14nm chip can't handle, assuming they're stuck with that node forever. Here we have a CEO that doesn't know what to do next, and is very honest about that (probably because his tech bro vibe overtakes his financial ego).
The reality is that hardware part of the industry is becoming like the Hollywood part. As we now have either $100m budget movies or $500k ones, and everything between is gone, you either get the high end most expensive gear, or get the cheapest available that is good enough. Basically SmallHD vs. any hard to pronounce Chinese brand. We can't have middle ground when someone who's supposed to make money from the middle ground can't tell us why it should exist.
