Even people in developed countries using iPhone X don't shoot video as much as they shoot still. Because for the viewer, video takes much more time to get the content.

"online videos".. vlogger generation, of course.. and high end smartphone, or a cheap m4/3 hybrid camera will be good enough for that. The point is FF still market is already niche.. a video centric approach for that market is niche in the niche. How it gonna help Panasonic?

I don't know how they gonna handle the customer perception management. With m4/3 the message was "for high quality photo and video, you don't need FF, and with fast lenses we and others are making for the system, you don't even miss FF DOF". With jumping to FF, its like saying "sorry guys, we were wrong about that".

Most know-nothing DSLR soccer moms and the like got a short zoom, a long zoom, and a 50mm. Got tons of people who wanted to do their own portraits/headshots for fun or to save money. Prime lenses there. Travel photography, sold a wide fast prime to plenty of those. Same with astrophotographers. Even had one wild dude who was a serious birder and bought several brutally expensive primes, including a 500mm.
Do most consumers go for zooms first? Sure. But I would not say "no one except pros use primes." In fact, working photographers are the exact people who often benefit from zooms to get critical shots, while hobbyists can pick up a more fulfilling prime, take their time, and not worry about potentially missing a paycheck moment.

Its amusing to see people call any ILC that has no mirror in front of sensor, a Sony clone!
Leave Nikon aside for a moment, most of the new tech or ideas introduced in this industry in recent years, didn't come from Sony. PDAF wasn't Sony invention, they licensed it. and Canon delivered a better version. IBIS was also a licensed tech, and Olympus created a much better iteration of it. EVF wasn't new thing, and Leica was the one who showed how the next generation of it should be. in optics, m4/3 members were true pioneers, and for large sensor glass, it was Sigma who made the bold actions. In video, most of what we now consider as must-have features, determined by Panasonic. In color science, and also the joy of photography, Fuji was the real hero.
Sony is good in two segments: making sensors, and marketing. Both unrelated to its imaging unit.

A7S is niche camera.. you will be surprised to learn how low is the number of production. Nikon better spend its limited R&D money on lenses.

So Tesla has some unnecessary side-battles to fight now, which I am sure the oil and established auto industry will use against their biggest rival. It's important for the whole damn planet that Elon Musk achieves his goals at Tesla and at SpaceX. Vital for humanity. People simply cannot get their heads around this. They are constantly gossiping and looking for ways to bring him down. Sure he's overworked. Yes, on sleeping pills. Maybe he even has a girlfriend (musician Grimes) who may not be the most stable presence (personally, I like her!). Yes, he may well have been on acid when he made the tweet about securing funding to take the company private at $420 a share. Who cares.
People need to look past all this gossip, even the possible breach of the law, and give the guy a break.
Imagine our city streets with no pollution and breathable air.
Imagine a home on another planet, ready to continue humanity after we fuck up this one.
Every investor in Tesla should let Musk concentrate on his health away from the extra pressure of lawsuits.

This cheap lens discontinued two decades ago, a lens that even Ken put that in Nikon 10 worst lenses list! I put this on D7500, an almost 6k DX sensor, equivalent to 8k FF sensor, and resolution was pretty good. Sure you find many optical shortcomings in these things, but thats not all because they are old! They're designed for film, which has a slight curve, not for perfectly flat digital sensors, so corners are softer that what they looked in 1980. AND they're designed to be compact, suitable for FM2 style cameras. when you prioritize the size, you have to make compromise in optics.
