I'd be surprised if it has "HIGH SPEED" auto focus.

In the proper hands telling the right story, either one could make a Billion Dollar Award Winning Film, or a Billion Dollar Loser. The rest is just specs and camera nerd talk.

But unlike the (beautiful) Alexa, it costs less then 1500 €.... and you can take it everywhere: with a couple of cheap batteries you can shoot for hours and hours.
If you use it in a proper way you can achieve a very cinematic look... take a look here: http://www.eoshd.com/eoshd-panasonic-gh4-shooters-guide/

I have a feeling that rumor will be proven untrue. It just doesn't make sense with so much competition out there in this segment.

No way Panasonic would ever admit that it's crippling something intentionally. It has to be B.S.

3328x2496 sounds like plenty of resolution to me. I like that panasonic gave us more vertical resolution to work with.

Arri's 4:3 is 2880x2160.

I'm thinking it's finally time to get into anamorphic and join the party. The footage I've seen with v-log looks great as well. Any recommendations on which anamorphic lens would be a good start?

At. Last. Real 4:3 anamorphic from Panasonic on a GH4. Just in time for my NEXT feature!
Thanks to Andrew and Illya Friedman for whispering into Panasonic's ear for about this for ages...
Will do some test shooting when the firmware and V-LOG is baked.

This is impressive
You can download it in 4K with https://www.4kdownload.com/
Still got youtubes compression etc...but yeah, this is starting to look very interesting.

Dunno, I just thought technicolor when I saw it. Actually, looking at real technicolor I prefer that. Like Marilyn Monroe here.

That was terrible. Big mistake trying to pull off something "cinematic".

johnnymossville reacted to dsw in Canon 5D Mark IV "will be 1080p" with Canon LOG
I have no interest in mastering to 4k yet but you can't even try to pry my 4k cameras out of my hands. It just opens the doors for me as a run & gun videographer (weddings mostly) to be able to crop and recompose in post. I do this all day long with photographs...it's about freaking time I can do it for video. Plus my frame grabs when I need them are much more usable. Every now and then I even stabilize in post which usually amounts to a crop. I still have my 5D3 for photography use but almost never use it for video anymore. Canon is dead wrong if they think 4k isn't a must have. Though granted, I still have yet to master out to 4k for projects...though I do enjoy watching my home videos on my 4k tv which I do maintain at 4k. Maybe my kids will thank me someday for their high quality home videos.

Yay! Great news. So much awesomeness is happening! First Blackmagic, now Panasonic comes through! I'd almost say 'EPIC!', but it seems it doesn't quite cover that.
Just the thing I was looking for to come to the GH4. Atleast V-LOG is more than a little bit of rumours now... the waiting begins!

Bring on the dodgy colours from people who can't grade LOG!
If it is slow to come out, maybe use the time to learn Resolve 12

Worth noting - The video was graded for the absolute maximum dynamic range, the roll off to the sun can be a lot smoother if you apply a different curve.
All shots are V-LOG apart from '14 and '28 secs.
Firmware was a beta version. "V-LOG-L" profile.

johnnymossville reacted to Clayton Moore in Blackmagic URSA Mini - $2995 - official thread
Either way it seems to me that Canon has some issues here with either the $2,999 version or he $4995 version...ala the XC10 and C300 MKII respectively. Depending on the images - how could you possibly rationalize spending $15,000 over $4995. I was about to sell my EF glass but now......not so much. I could see how (down the road) my GH4 could be my B camera........... just sayin..........

johnnymossville got a reaction from richg101 in Canon 5D Mark IV rumors
The way I see it, in today's world with so many other options, there's very little reason to have a video shooting camera without an EVF and titling screen. The 5DMIV probably won't have either, and probably won't have 4k as well.
Canon needs a Super 35 sensor mirrorless camera with EVF and 4k. This is the camera people need, and it won't step on their Full Frame DSLRs, but will kill them for 4k Video.
