In the past, Panasonic's cameras have always featured playback compatibility with their TVs.  Their current HDR UHD TVs feature native H.265/HEVC and VP9 decoding at 10 bits.  I am not aware of 10 bit H.264 decoding support in these TVs.  So there's a good possibility this camera will actually record in HEVC and even have a built in HDR profile (HDR10?) in addition to Log profile for those of us who will grade the images offline.  I could be wrong, but it just doesn't seem to make logical sense to shoot in a codec that won't be playback-compatible with their HDR capable TVs, especially considering product lifecycles can run as long as 3 years for a GH.  Why hang on to H.264 for another 2-3 years?

    I predict a blockbuster of a camera.
I'd love to see a battery grip that unlocks other features (higher fps), unlike the YAGHYAGHYAGHYAGH.
I also hope to see an improvement in dynamic range.
If this all stacks up, I'll be a customer for sure.

Finally we have 10-bit 4:2:2 internally, this is a huge step, since others will stat to do the same, the age of 8-crapy-bit is over!!!!!!

Agree on the LUT preview.  This would be a killer feature.

Great news. That's really all that I would've asked for in the GH4 along with a LUT REC709 preview for V -Log.

I think the GH5 will have some great specs for video. Unlike the 5D mark IV, the GH line is Panasonic's flagship hybrid. The DVX200 is more in camcorder land. The next step up in video is the Varicam LT.

    Hope so, but doubt it.
I think there is almost ZERO chance of internal raw.
Currently Panasonic GH4 is the only one doing external 10bit, so it isn't like they're being pushed to do more!
But it is the natural next step for the GH series to do (just like how the a7S mk1 to a7S mk2 went from external 4K to internal 4K)

Sign me up for the Gh5 even if  IBIS is all they bring to the table.

Right now with my current gear  - Gh4 and Olympus 7-14, Panasonic 12-35 and 35 - 100 - and the venerable Voigtlander 25  - Sliders, steadicams, panasonic's AMAZING native codec (it really is under rated) and the turbo editing speed of FCPX ..

-I reckon i could be QUICKLY creating great content for the next 5 years without any need of an update.

Its nice to have too many stories to tell, a ton of forward bookings from clients and no new gear acquisition syndrome!

I think the GH5 is the one to watch, as it could have pretty much everything you need.
The Canons and Nikons are much more for photographers, hence the weirdness with video features.
Give Fuji a couple of years to get video right.
    Samsung... what a shame!
Sony... I'm glad they're quiet for once.
    IBC is coming.
Expect a Canon C100 mk III announcement coming quite soon (going off history), another reason for DSLR video weirdness.
The Kinefinity Terra has been delayed til November, Ursa Mini style.
What happened to Craft Camera? Those guys are a bit weird.
FCPX hasn't been updated since February. New version on the way?

Ah yeah better slow-mo could be on the cards, definitely. I'll be happy with 120fps as long as it is clean 1080p with no weirdness or crop. Then it competes with the RX100 IV and RX10 III but interchangeable lenses and larger sensor.

I'm not an expert on video or colour, but have owned the Gx7, LX100, G7, and now GX85.  I have also used Olympus cameras, whose colour especially with JPEG output (and video) for skin tones I preferred.  The Panasonics sometimes have some sort of orangey tone in the skin and purple in the lips - I especially found this with my LX100.
I know you can use a custom white balance, which seems to fix a lot of these colour shifts, but that isn't always practical.  I am finding that my new GX80 has quite nice balanced colour using the Natural 0,-5,-5,-2 settings as recommended by @Inazuma on another thread.  I used those settings and "cloudy" WB to shoot a carnival event this weekend and was quite happy with the few clips that I got before the skies opened up and the event was cancelled.
I did a colour comparison of the GX80/LX100 with my E-M5ii and G7 (before selling them).  They all used identical settings and custom white balance with an expo disk.  You might have already seen this on the other thread, but if not here it is again.
I'm looking forward to the GH5 to have a stabilised slow-motion camera with continuous recording.  I could see myself using a GH5, GX80, and LX200 combo (if they add tilt/touch screen and improved Panasonic colours/low-light like G7/GX80).  Right now I'm running with two GX80 bodies and the LX100 for time-lapse or for one-camera travel.

I use a GX8 daily for commercial photography and video and have never once encountered shutter shock.
In fact I cannot remember taking a photo with camera shake or that is out of focus when using the 12-35 f/2.8.
I now use a Voigt 25mm f/0.95 as my main lens so that takes more care (I much prefer manual lenses and love this Voigt), but I remain hugely impressed by this camera (I dumped my Nikon D810 and pro glass for it).
The two factors that have elevated it for me are :
Using the Voigt lens for photography. The still images are very close to Leica quality. Using a Ninja Star for video. the images look awesome and are very gradeable.

The GH series of cameras are just fun to use.   The plucky GH2's image still excites me all these years later.  The GH4 is the camera that really made the GH a professional tool.  Panasonic listens to users and gives us cool things.  To me that deserves some loyalty.     I'm looking forward to the GH5, but I'm not convinced I'll buy it until after some reviews come in.
I'd like to see them offer something neat like programmable rack focus.   The post focus feature they have now is halfway there, and it would be a fun feature to play with and perfect. I'd use it all the time.

When the Pocket camera went on sale for $500 I bought that and then I bought the Voigtlander 17.5mm and 42.5mm f0.95 lenses and stopped using my GH2 for a few months. When I needed to shoot a concert I pulled out my GH2 (with flomotion hack) and threw on a Voigtlander lens and I was blown away. The GH2 looked amazing with those lenses and made me fall in love with the camera all over. While the Pocket is great for a lot of situations like exterior shots and RAW landscape B-Roll, the usability of that camera is garbage and now the Pocket camera just shuts off randomly. I'll put in a battery fresh off the charger and in minutes it goes to 25%, then back up to 50%. I mean I guess the issue could be the batteries, but my GH2 batteries are older and don't have these issues.

At this point I'm considering buying a second GH2 since they are only a few hundred bucks. This way I could use both of those for interviews and the Pocket for B-Roll.

I got 2 GX85's for a specific project, so I can attest to the brand loyalty thing.  I've used Panasonic cameras for a long time and brand comfort makes the choice to buy-in to a new camera for this gig a bit easier.  Plus, the dang things are ridiculously cheap.
That said, I still think the 5-axis in the Oly EM5II is just a touch better than what Panasonic is offering; industry leading.  However, there's a caveat:  that's only when using non-OIS lenses.  If you have a Pany OIS lens paired with the Panasonic sensor stabilizer, it's really good.
I'm also really loathe to turn away from the ergos of my EM5II.  I'm surprised that I connected so much to the EM5II, to be honest, but I do love how it just works.  If only Oly had better motion picture IQ...

Have been the GH system owner since GH2, had GH3 and Using GH4 with BMPCC speedbooster , Nikon prime  AIS lenses  plus some Leica lumix lenses and now eargarly waiting for the GH5.  Bought an A7sII  out of hype and sold it after 3 months since it did not do anything better for my shooting needs.
