I loved the OG pocket. It had it’s own look. It was a pain in the ass to use for more than 20 min though, without rigging. The P4K is definitely a next gen in every way. Once they add B- Raw ???

The new pocket 4k blows the old one away in terms of dynamic range and color reproduction. Many shots online are just overexposed or lack proper grading.
Btw, your shot looks great. Idc about the slight highlight clipping on the left - since it should be compressed anyway.

Here's a take at your shot. Without any luts. Just a BM Pocket 4K color science to Rec709 CST at the very end after the grading.


I wonder how many here would call the RED Gemini with its basically perfect yet completely realistic reproduction a videoish looking camera.
Sensors are getting better. Both RED and BM deliver images without any visible processing with amazing color reproduction and stunning detail with a complete lack of noise - because why not.

I made that Gemini vs Pocket video. If you download the original ProRes file, zoom in around 300% and notice the edges of her hair/face is fringing significantly more on the Gemini. I'm extremely impressed with the Pocket 4K thus far.

This is true, unless you use an IR filter. The Rawlite OLPF has a built in IR cut that makes tungsten light look just as pleasing/accurate as daylight.

Not sure that is possible ... I always look for Vimeo and download original file if available ... then watch on computer without
the compression. If it is a compressed file I do not bother to download.

Still waiting for full ACES support with Color Science 4 though.

BRaw is amazing but the feature that flew under the radar is Gen 4 color science w/ Extended Video preview. It’s pretty much just like the Alexa and Amira whereas you can view a “modest” REC 709 version. Less saturation and contrast than the original BM to Rec 709 LUT.

RED just lost a huge advantage with this release. One of the best things they had going was the many flavors of RAW on their cameras.

I hope Blackmagic does not make it difficult for Adobe to implement support for it, as that is the one thing that could hold this great feature back. 

Alex Mitchell and John Brawley from BMCuser have been confident in this fact, and a Panasonic rep confirmed it via email:
"The Gh5 does not have the Optical low pass flter however the GH5s does indeed have an optical low pass filter. that is fact one of the differences between the models.

No IBIS, no Log, no 10-bit, Cropped 4K is my guess. No 120fps in 1080p already confirmed.
I think the EOS R is mainly focused on stills and video for the casual / vlogger people (DPAF & Flip screen is what they'll put forward).
For serious uncompromised video Canon invites you to try their C line of products.

So refreshing to have a company announce a product and ship the next day.
