1. Keep an eye out on ebay. Check 2 or 3 times a day. I found one last week from an independent shop at retail price, with free shipping.
2. We could go back and forth about what is 'stupid' but really whose opinion on film making are we going to respect more? James Cameron or richg101 from EOSHD board?
3.       The point isn't really what you preferred. The point is that it was James Cameron's decision to film in 3D, not the studios. He still stands behind the format. For richg101 to say its for stupid people is, well , stupid. : )
4.   James Cameron is one of the best Sci Fi/Action directors of all time. Critically acclaimed as well. Your post makes no sense.

BMCC Review

Alot of the things he gripes about can be fixed with a firmware upgrade. The other major thing was no swivel screen which isn't really a big deal if you already own an external monitor.
6. 16 bit is fine. Shotgun mic plugged into the Zoom is the best scenario, but if you're using the Zoom audio only then its a shot by shot decision. The closer the better, for dialogue.
7. Can anyone comment on the iPad monitoring option that was mentioned in sept? Havent been able to find an answer , if its possible.
8.
This doesn't look all that impressive, although I'd have to see a 4K projection to get the full effect. I can't help feeling that there's an as yet unannounced 4K+ camera out there that will cost less than $5K and put this, the Alexa, and the Epic to shame.
Did you change quality to "original"? It defaults to 360p and looks like garbage.
9. I was listening to the commentary for Looper, and director Rian Johnson said something interesting that I had never heard about anamorphic. He said since the lens is not aspherical that you can go really close and wide angle on someones face without having barrel distortion. It gives a cool effect that other lenses will not provide. I dont know anything about anamorphic but that seemed very interesting to me.
10.
Another thing Andrew, it's ok to have an opinion about something but I think you should be careful about saying windows has always been shit because you actually are starting a windows/mac trash debate with such generalizing remarks. I don't care what system I work with as long as it does the job. All I can say that since I started using windows 7 pro I never had a system crash and never had to "fiddle" with anything so I don't share the same experience you seem to have had, my editing system runs 16 hours a day, 6 days a week and combined with Edius I never had that go down either. So for me at least it works very well and very stable and that at a fraction of the cost I would have paid for a Mac pro. With that said, will be looking forward to any new info/tests you can share, I only have to convince my wife why I need the camera, that will be the biggest challenge :D
I agree. Windows 7 has been virtually flawless for me.
11. Great review. Dynamic range is my #1 aspiration, so this camera is very appealing. I'd like to comment on the Windows dilemma. I use Apple mobile devices, and a macbook air. I wanted to build my own computer with high horsepower and top of the line hardware, so i decided to have a custom PC built. I was hesitant because of the old days of Blue Screen Of Death. However, Ive been using the PC for 2 years now with NO problems other than 2 lockups (over 2 years). I firmly believe if you build (or have built) your own computer with hardware thats reliable then Windows runs smoothly. its when you start dealing with Dells, HPs, etc where alot problems arise. Not sure if its bad hardware or bloatware. This is just my discovery over the past 2 years.
12. One of the questions I have is about the iPad monitoring. Is that possible in video mode?
13. So if my calculations are correct, in 6 months a camera will come out with the headline "R.I.P. F5" or "The F5 Killer."
14. That footage that Shane Hurlbut shot with the 1DC is unreal. Looks so good.
15. I'm not familiar with the video on the 1D X. Does it look on par with the 1D C footage other than the 4k output. I guess what I mean is would shooting 1080p on the 1D X and 1D C look the same?
16.
look at the video. its fun and enjoyable to watch. he made the effort to get a girl to perform in front of the camera in an amazing location. this will sell more cameras than a sharpness and dynamic range focused test by some stuffy kid on the internet.
If you were Panasonic, wouldn't you be very picky about who was posting footage of your new camera online the week of its announcement. Looks like theyre having a great time and all, but it's really not getting me hyped up for the GH3 , at all. Footage from Photokina booth is a different story, but to send a preproduction camera to someone who is taking shots of his cat. I mean give one to Andrew for goodness sake.
17.
Hello Andrew & friends.... Best regards
Why did this guy get a camera?
18. What does it smell like at Photokina?
19. This is hilariously awkward. Watch from 0:55. No applause, dead silence. https://vimeo.com/49672830#
20. This is a small concern, but is there any word on the recording time limit for Quicktime MOV mode?
