I'm not by any means criticizing the filmmaking here, which is of a high calibre, but the the color of the original graded footage is lusterless, the skin tones flat and washed out.

Do you mean the original ungraded?  That would be the VLog/flat image profile.

@Neumann Films God bless you, thanks for the footages, looks freaking awesome.

Can you check the VFR bitrates for us please? Also, is there an anamorphic liveview/stretch on the LCD?

So how should we upgrade our PCs? I have i7 4core, 16gb ram, 3GB graph card and my computer had hard time to play the footages even on 1/8th of the original quality.

VFR isn't enabled just yet, wish I could test.  No anamorphic stretch yet either, but I believe it's supposed to be added.

I would start utilizing Premiere Pro and their proxy system...it truly is awesome.

id like to know that as well be usuful tool

I don't see it in the menus but I remember an engineer saying they wanted to do it.  Who knows if that will actually happen.

Luke, thanks for all the info..great stuff. Two questions if you don't mind:

    1. Can you shoot with the Viewfinder/LCD set to Black & White?

    2. Can you set Crop Marks..like 1:85, 2:35, or 2:40 Crop Lines in Viewfinder and LCD...(like the A7S series) ?

    Thanks man

I heard something about crop marks at one time (early meetings) but that is all.  Who knows where it's at now.

I'm not sure about the LCD.  You can shoot with a REC709 LUT applied just to it so that makes me think it would be very much possible.

C300II is amazing for AF. But I would love to have A6300 level which seems not really doable considering it has only Phase detection AF. But who knows...

For me running in the field doing this type of video (my latest one) having AF in video is crucial.

    Great looking video!

Well, I did use the half shutter press AF quite a bit and I found that really fast.  Also, the manual focus with peaking and the zoom in feature as soon as you touch the lens is pretty good.  I dunno, I never really found myself NEEDING the constant AF.  I know what you mean though, there are times where it would be nice, but I really didn't miss it during our shoot at all.

Then the V2 brings Dual IS 2..... Let's see how it compares. Because they actually claim it brings Dual IS 2 and cosmetic change but no IQ change.
Good to know the V1 is working well already.

Can't wait to see your 180 fps shoot, and in the meantime if you have the time to give us a small Continuous AF video tracking test that would be sick

I messed with it once at home and it seemed...well, if you've used the C300 Mark II, you would be disappointed.  I feel like that could be due to several factors though (pre production model, me not knowing the AF system for this camera very well etc)

I will mess around with it a bit more though.  There is a "face tracking" feature that looked like it might be cool

Version 1...lol.  Well, now I'm excited to see what dual IS actually looks like.

On screen I had dual IS notifications the whole time?  Seemed more stable than lenses that clearly had no IS.  I am pretty sure V1 had working IS.

Great! but do you speak about the new V2 version of the lenses? Or the older ones?
Apparently they say the V2 version is compatible with Dual IS 2, which should means the V1 is not. I am wondering. Hope you will tell me it was shot with V1 and that V2 are just cosmetics difference :)

I honestly don't know.  The lens itself says nothing about version 2.  There is a big red X on the front?

i cannot play smoothly those clips and editing in premiere (PC) is pain in the a$#@ss !

Yeah, Adobe has some bugs to work out.  This is pretty normal for a new camera though.  Even though it's H.264.

  9. I honestly thought they didn't even release it. I had to go searching the depths of YouTube just to find it on a channel that has 2 subscribers.

Panasonic was really chill to work for and they loved the work that we did so...not sure what happened.  Guess EOSHD forums get the B-sides :)

Thanks a lot Neumann. I tried the files in Premiere and they grade beautifully however it makes Pr very slow and unresponsive sometime despite my beast computer.

Also, the 60fps footage looks accelerated, especially they one with the girl in the snow.

Did you slow it down?  Looks fine when conformed.  Yeah, apparently Adobe will fix a lot of this before launch. That's the word anyways.

Oohh.. sweet!  That is really great to know because it's almost unusable right now.

PS. Very stoked about your GH5 LUTs after seeing your footage.

Yeah, premiere just kept crashing for me.  Same for Adobe techs.  Its just H.264...so something that they should be able to easily fix.

So this is our version of 'screener season' :)

    Man, are we nerds :/

    Hahahah.  Truth.

Luke, best looking footage from the GH5 so far. Great work!

And thank you for downloadable footage. First thing I discovered is that my system is struggling to grade those files in Premiere.  Super sluggish with these while I've graded other 4K files just fine. I guess it'll be time to upgrade.

Yeah, I was talking to Adobe for a loooooong time about this.  Eventually had to grade elsewhere and for Premiere.  It will be ironed out before release though, I'm sure.

What lens did you most enjoy to use?

    Which LUT did you use?

    Nice video man.

The Lumix 12-35mm and 35-100mm 2.8's with IS were used on probably about 90% of it.  I have never used them before and fell in love over the course of the shoot.  The dual IS is pretty awesome.

We also have a set of SLR Magic 2x Anamorphics for a 6K video (assuming Panasonic wants us to go forward with it).

Where did you actually saw six thousand dots??

You created lots of confusion by saying that.

Play on words...6K photo mode.  I uploaded a blank still at the actual resolution of 6K Photo Mode.  Andrew got it!

    It's not actually 6K though.

Luke can you please show us some slomo actions when you ready plz ?

When 180fps is enabled, we will do a video.  Currently, it's not an option on the pre production model we have.

  14. Before and after grading on GH5.  Video with downloadable clips (4K/60 and 422 10bit mixture) online soon.  Lowlight tests tomorrow.

No clue where our official video is...maybe they hated it :)

Luke, how is the Continuous Auto Focus now?

Also, are you working on any LUTs for it?

I didn't really use it since I like MF but it seems to be pretty solid.  Yeah, been working on LUTs for a while.

@Neumann Films Million dollar question: can you zoom in to check focus while recording? ;)

Can you monitor VLOG recording in REC709?

Is there really a waveform monitor implemented?

Not on my build but...seems like that could be a firmware add on.

Yes, VLog now has REC709 preview.

Yup, it's a little clunky though.  Sits in the middle of your screen and as far as I know you can't move it.  Still there though.
