  1. I find Interesting that they are blaming the "...massive decline in markets for imaging products" So, Why the heck they were planning to make Photokina an annual event?
I love trade shows and always look forward to them, even if I cannot attend. It is about the whole experience, including visiting exciting destinations like Cologne, Amsterdam, and Las Vegas, but due to the world pandemic we are going to have to settle for virtual alternatives. Online product launches don't have to be dull as proven by Apple's most recent events.

It's a major camera announcement, almost no doubt about it. BMPCC 4K and 6K still fly off the shelf's, and are most likely profitable for BM. So it makes perfect sense to extend the line with a Full Frame body. If Z-Cam can do it, BM can do it as well.

3000 $ will translate to 3000 Euro and for that price expect

            - better body ergonomics as camera should be suitable to take photos as well. Old BMPCC4K / 6K shell/body is a no go for me.
            - articulating screen
            - some sort of modular design
            - mirrorless mount
            - better battery life

It's clear that sensor is very good, dual ISO, very good low light, etc. and Blackmagic has all the ingredients to make the cinema part - BRAW, great user interface, all I/O ports. But don't think they have the engineering force  to implement IBIS or good autofocus. So it's not realistic to expect those.

Very unexpected but quite logical development from BM. Can't wait to see the camera. 😀

Mirrorless mount? What do you mean by that? BMD cinema cameras are already mirrorless and the mount has nothing to do with it.

My moneys on an update to the Micro Cinema Camera, It's the only 'older' camera in their current lineup. I assume it'll be a box version of the Pocket 6k. Probably EF mount, it looks like they are trying to unify the lineup to 1 mount.

I would love this but with interchangeable mounts like the Zcam e2.

  4. Why is every Philip Bloom video posted on Youtube a piece of art? Because he uses 'over-cranking" 95 percent of the time. "Everything looks good in slow motion". That's why I don't see him switching from Sony mirroless to Canon any time soon. Not until they fix the overheating issue at high frame rates.

  5. Can the BMD Video Assist be calibrated like the Atomos Ninja Blade? Atomos advertises the Ninja Blade as a “Director Quality Monitor” that can be calibrated with the optional Spyder. I know the Video Assist is higher resolution than the Ninja Blade, but Is the screen also an IPS?

  6. I love small cameras with big picture quality. I own a Panasonic TM700 (60fps), a Panasonic GH2 (Hacked), and 2 Gopros. Each one of these cameras has an unique feature that make it ideal for a specific job. But what these cameras have in common is that they are probably the smallest cameras with the best picture quality in their respective categories. They are stealthy and extremely affordable. You can capture images that would be impossible to capture with bigger cameras. The beauty of the Gopros is that after you select the settings, all you have to do is push the shutter button and forget about it; then you can concentrate in your "dangerous" activity. You can give it to anyone and not worry about the person’s ability to operate the camera. Gopros are perfect "crash cams" because of their size, price and build quality. For narrative jobs I would use my hacked GH2.

I would like the Gopro people to make a special "spycam", with better sensitivity for low light, low noise, and night vision, that can be controlled from anywhere in the world via your phone, tablet or computer. A black and white mode with lower resolutions for time-laps would be a welcome addition for surveillance operations (sd cards fill up fast at 5mp).
  7. I just noticed that REC MODE is active only when there is nothing connected to the HDMI port on the camera. I can select SH and H but as soon I hook an HDMI cable to the camera, it rolls back to FSH and FH.  Maybe this is a documented limitation. I don't remember how it was before the v1.11 firmware and the PTool hack.  Also, according to StreamParser the Average Total Bitrate of my 720p/60 clip is 15,588,718bps or 15.59mbps. This is similar to the results posted by AZVideo.
  8. Hi Andrew, I just installed your 88 unified patch and everything seen to work fine in 1080p/i. The problem is that REC MODE is grayed out on the menu and the only options I have for REC QUALITY are FSH and FH. Is there anything missing in the patch or is this an operator error? Thanks!
