1. On a film production the job of the DP is not to file tax returns or chase clients for new business.

The job of a lone operator is 50% business and not all artists have that skill.

If you have though, the 1D C could be a good investment. I know people who have taken out a loan for more to get something leisurely like a camper van which depreciates and costs money to run and doesn't make you any money. At least this could make you some money.

This seems weird, from canon hater, to fanboy.
I don't see the logic of you're post.

"1DC" EOS "CINEMA" series where utter shit a few months ago according by your own posts.

What's up Andrew?
I feel this is a commercialized post, which is payed up for some kind words.

Andrew, you can't be serious, you are a Canon Basher, and you don't bash Leica? (...)

No 1080/60p50p?
Moire?
Hello, nearly 7k in price(!!)
MJPEG(!!)

you have know idea what the image will be like.
leica has a reputation defined by the purity and perfection of optics and cameras.
maybe the greatest reputation of all companies.
they go slow.they do not join cost races to dilute top line product ranges.
they wait for the best sensor, they wait for the technology to exist in a refined form before they integrate into top range products.
let us not beat them up for a camera that does not yet exist apart from tester cameras.
rumour is the test model is already pretty handy.
these products are for super serious pros with money or the very well off that want the best.
plenty of cheap plastic cameras around for the price of a leica lens hood.
i have a leica digilux 2 from 8 years ago leica replaced the sensor last year for free.
leica are not going to release the most important camera for them in years that is flawed imager.
that camera clearly is of interest to existing customers it is not trying to attract gh2 users.
this camera is only a good thing and in the future i believe they will make other products with video.
i would suggest people email leica direct with ideas for future directions.
this company is small enough to listen to valid ideas.
lets wait and see..for most it is not relevent because of price point but for some it is great news.

You are comparing a still camera (Leica) vs a HEAVY compressed codec?
For the 1000st time for people, STILLS are NOT the same as Video.
RAW photography is a way other game than video, it's just not the same, why don't people get this?
Leica will not bring pro functions to the camera e.g. raw video, 444 or uncompressed.
Ofcourse Leica has the reputation of one of the best glass around, but not video.
If you look at the specs, you can predict image quality. so far it will look like major pile of shit for 6000+ euro's
4. FS: a special gem, it's a huge one tho ;)
Isco Gottingen Anamorphotic 2x (2.55 or 2.35 aspect ratio) This version does not have a focus ring, which means you will be able to focus with your prime (you will need diopters for close focus)
The best thing is ofcourse that you'll be able to focus with your prime lens, and not both of the lenses, altho its huge, you will need a good adapter, rear diameter is 72mm. This one is very sharp, and has nice contrasts and flares ofcourse ;)
Tested with 50mm and 40mm primes (mini vignetting), 28mm works but with vignetting. In mint condition, Asking price 400 $ USD excl. Shipping, accepting offers!

Is the same optic, but this is a diffrent version.

Pictures of the anamorphic http://www.flickr.co...tos/sicovdplas/ Check out the front side of the lens, this is where normally the focus scale is used to be (see ad of Johnnym)

With a diopter, you can focus with your prime!
Get it now it's still hot ;)

Cheers!
5. I'm sorry to be an asshole, but you guys are all wrong specifically Andrew.

it is made for STILLS FIRST, not video, Canon said way back (in 2011/2010) that they are NOT going to make it video first, hence there are no improvements nor is it on their 'to do list', it is designed for Photos, video is a extra, if you would like smashing video, buy a video camera, or another dSLR that delivers better, but stop being retarded, and crying about video features on a photo camera.

Another mystery solved .. I think F is F65 Or Alexa

Around 5:27 minutes into the video, we have this clip

This matches pretty close to camera F

(slight differences but there are other similarities if you watch 5:27 to 5:31 part and compare it to clip F)

I am sure camera F is F65 or Alexa

Nice trying to debunk everything, short notice for you, everything was shot on a Crane, these where just setup shots you've seen, not the actual takes.
7. He girls & guys.

I'm looking for a future proof prime set. I was aiming for a prime set 18/35/50/75mm
I know the Zeiss super speeds and panchros/cookes  from PL

My question is does anyone own PL lenses for a GH2 or Canon dSLR?
If so, do you guys have any samples of lens quality, distortion etc.

I was looking to buy a OCT19 Konvas set, but i can't really find any good examples/samples online.

Any advice on affordable primes for PL -> m4/3 slash PL -> EOS and advice?

Note - this is a prime set not the anamorphics
8. Tokina 11-16mm is future proof, and its the best wide angle available,
on a full frame, i've seen it used, only downside you will need to zoom it to 16mm, 11 true 15mm wont work due to FF.

I cannot verify this, but you can research it!
If im not mistaking Andrew made a review about it.
9. I recommend you to wait for the GH3 or next gen GH2, if you can wait.
Rumors has it that it will be announced in the next months (September/October)

1. i don't know
2. I'm not sure, i believe not since the m4/3 flange is shorter then canon
3. Expensive adapter with electronic "iris" control, AF does not work if i can recall, i recommend for filming to buy primes.
4. Zoom lenses in general are crap, unless you would like to spent alot of cash, the kit lens is "OK" but does not have a fixed aperature, zooming will cause your f-stop to change during filming making it darker.
10. @MarkM

I don't get the problem, 11-14mm for wide angle it's one of the best budget Wides, with straight distortion not fisheye'ish (converts to around 24mm)
a prime set should atleast be 15mm (goes to around 28/30mm) 25, 28, 35 and 50 and a 100 or 60 mm macro.

I don't see le problem, ofcourse M4/3 would be better, but have you seen the distortion on these lenses? Esp. the wide lenses, it's retarded and not even near cinematic.

The best would be a tokina 11-16mm f2.8 and a Arriflex Angenieux somewhere near 10-200mm with PL adapter for EF

REMINDER! The BMD camera does NOT take 16mm lenses, the senser is slightly BIGGER, S16 primes/zooms won't cover the sensor
