Isn't it time to remove stills from our HDSLRs?!  :P   Stills have plagued our video cameras now for years!   The sacrifices videographers have made for the small niche of photographers is enormous.   The mirror box in our video cameras is completely redundant and the viewfinder doesn't work.   The flash is completely useless as a video light.   Instead of a conveniently placed video record button, we have to put up with a spongy shutter button. Why!?   The LCD is photo-shaped and not 16:9 like the video standard.  
And don't tell me to use a proper video camera, I can't afford $20,000!
 
An undesirable flash sync port replaced our headphone socket :(   All the manual focussing aids are for stills  :wacko:   The tripod thread lacks a pin to keep the camera from shifting on the quick release plate.  
Bloody photographers!

A more pertinent question is where's Nikon, Canon or Sony's answer to Blackmagic?

No independent film maker has used this camera in its final version so we can not judge. I am personally waiting to download and grade some footage before any decision or judgment. The rest is just guessing.

After using the 5d MKIII in raw my expectations are very high. The bar has risen.

The only thing I am sure about is the ergonomics that should be much more improved.

Just bought your book with the same spirit I donated ML form the beginning. The spirit of community and sharing is the best thing internet has to offer and we see the fruit everyday.
 
Beside that your book is a great shortcut for somebody that wants to shoot RAW.

i am bored of these overrated japanse paied Magic Lantern critics (Read Laforet) that are just as ridiculous in their opinions as it is Canon with such piloted pricing and specs policy.

The fact is that even if I am very happy of the raw I am getting now on the 5D Mark III , I feel the strange paradox of having at the same time lost all my respect for Canon.

Here we go again with more Cinema EOS propaganda from peederj. You're heading to the door, because I am frankly SICK of reading it.
 
All sensors output raw data at various video frame rates even your iPhone. What the Magic Lantern project proves is that Compact Flash cards and cheap consumer electronics are capable of writing that data internally, without an external recorder.
 
Yet the $25,000 C500 cannot do this, and doesn't even have an SSD slot. It's a failed product design. A version 0.5 camera.
 
Needless to say, I'm not targeting EOSHD at people who have money to burn on a C500.

I'm interested in what gives me the most cinematic image for under $6000, as an ownership prospect not rental.
 
That isn't the C100 I'm afraid.
 
C500 isn't a sensible ownership prospect nor does it have a good specs sheet. I was renting I'd go F55 or Epic.

C500 is overpriced! C500 is overpriced!
It just is.

I'm just blown away that this technology even exists. This is something that should just be built into all small sensor cameras right? I mean, wouldn't it be great if the Black magic cinema camera just had something like this built into the camera? Just before the lens mount? Why not?
