Why do people insist on pushing their methods onto someone else, as if there is only one way to do something?
 
Maybe you and i work in very different ways, on very different clients.... As long as i'm getting paid and the client is happy... then surely my methods are as valid as yours? Even if i jump through a million hoops to make it work.
 
What would you prefer, if you had a blank canvas.... a 5dIII with this raw hack or a HVX200? Some will take the 1st and do a great job, some will take the 2nd and do a great job.... Some will do a bad job regardless.

If you like a tiny(relative to full frame) sensor, moire and aliasing, terrible form-factor, limited internal battery, poor touch control and  a hard-to-see lcd screen, the choice is clear, go with the BMC. The slight increase in resolution is moot when there's moire all over the place. Also, in lowlight the BMC stands zero chance up against the 5D3.

Wow, I officially am going to buy this one. I love what Blackmagic is doing to the industry and how they are really pushing things forward. Really refreshing to see a company put their best foot forward and not just pump out 1080p cameras left and right that no one cares about.
 
What is every other camera manufacturer thinking right now besides what the fuck do we do now? Canon's ridiculously priced 8 bit 4K 1DC is going to be bought by no one when you could buy 3 of these for the same price and it shoots RAW!!!

Blackmagic just exposed (again) the entire camera industry. This is what Panasonic should have done to beat Canon and Sony, but didn't even bother to try.
I hope they can manage demand better this time around. We need them to.

The opening shots from the helicopter are jerky as shit and so is the cab shot that everyone is so gaga about. I don't get it. You need an army of people to use and operate the thing effectively, so it's not like you're showing up to a shoot by yourself and using this.
 
The spiral stairwell case shot could have been pulled off flying a Glidecam and a DSLR upside down without a doubt. Even if it weren't possible, it's not like that shot was all that riveting staring at her out of focus shoulders while wobbling down the stairs with the camera operator's shadow coming into the scene(which happened a few different times). 
 
Vinny Minton would have absolutely gotten a smoother and more precise shot during the cab scene with a simple Glidecam.

For tight spaces and some helicopter work (albeit the footage examples from the helicopter were quite poor at times), I see this as a useful tool. I would not call this a "game changer" and compare it to the level of game change that the 5D2 brought on, that is quite absurd.

all quadcopter gimbals are "inspired" by the flight head.
and their own small version is available for some years now.

it`s just not small enough to carry it around by hand, but it takes on decent cameras.. and comes at a price...
 
BUT, quadcopter gimbals are available from dozens of sources, the electronics became smaller etc..
i think this is a good "inspiration" for something you can build on your own for a fraction of the price!

I have nothing wrong with advertising per se, but I do have a problem with false advertising.  Hyping it as a game changer on par with the 5D2 is false advertising. 

Putting this the same league as the 5D2 is abject nonsense.  I hope he was paid well.
