  1. The gnarbox 2 is the real deal when it comes to this... (had it a few weeks) As SD card back up it is 'ok fast' - seems to match it 75MB/s claims - also does a checksum to verify the back up - lets you backup to the Gnarbox and an external SSD simultaneously. Integration with Lumafusion, Lightroom CC, Photo Mechanic (via the selects app) is spot on. Wifi transfer is fast and it lets you do usb-c transfer too (over 200MB/s on my pc.) You can do in and out points straight from the Gnarbox in Lumafusion and then it only imports the in/out footage. Wish there was better integration with Premiere Pro. Yes, it is expensive but way better than some of the alternatives I have wasted money on (Gnarbox 1/WD passport pro).

  2. I think that people get too wrapped up in the fact that the equipment is cheap and they forget that everything else is still the same price. I went to film school and while the career opportunities afterwards left something to be desired, it allowed me to produce work of a far higher production value than I could on my own. I had access to a soundstage, a wide variety of lighting equipment, screening facilities, mixing facilities, production insurance and because my school also had music, art, theater, and acting programs, a steady supply of people who could act in my films, help me build sets and compose my soundtracks. Interacting with other artists from a bunch of different disciplines is crucial to one's artistic growth. It is also important to recognize that breadth of knowledge does not equal depth. Yeah, YouTube might have a million tutorials on everything, but it doesn't compare to a seasoned professional talking to you in person and showing you what's what. Teachers don't just relay information, they organize it and put it in context so that it makes sense. I took four years of cinema studies classes with some of the best instructors on the planet, and no amount of individual study could've rivaled the quality of education. The only big issue with film school is the debt. And yes, it's a pain in the ass. Choose wisely and don't go to USC if you can't afford it.

  6. Yeah unless you are certain of not buy RF lenses ( that would be weird since those lenses are the spear of R system) They should put that in body even if mount was projectile like BMPCC6k. Adapter with control ring is also usefall but this one could be a forever addon IF you didn't have to put a clear filter to fill the hole (why have a clear filter instead of nothing? a simple cap would do the job unless there is a reason for a glass to exist in that place ? ) and if that included a control ring as well.

    Crappy internet content

Trying to convince who BTW? That one addressed to me of 'moral absolutes' is even more funny. Follows the 'relativism' as subject when that one of the "slavery" as utmost indefensible example left you without grounds in any way other than going down the road... *Sigh* Links (I don't use to attack someone else as a bullet thrown at the other side of the door) are that so-called by... reasoning. Something external to you/us able to support our argument. Every individual who has to handle with norms and alike becomes used to. Without stuff to back your standpoint, you're lost... Don't misplace freedom of expression for patronizing or easy preaching, I beg your pardon LOL ; ) It seems pretty clear to me it is you who's arguing or feel like to, not me. I thought that thing a few days ago was already cleared up, not yet?! C'mon, you're known by your friendly tone, keep going your path, no reason for changes : ) I'd rather pick my memory to serve to anything else. As well, this community, not other. To respect each other, that's where the consideration for ourselves starts from.

  15. Honestly, I am stoked on this. If I somehow get my hands on some extra cash I would love to pick up a used E-M1 mkii or one of these E-M5 mkiii. I shoot mostly on a GH5 and having one of these as my second cam would be killer. Good AF for the times I need it and the Gh5 for when I need 10bit / 4k60. Olympus is doing good stuff. Plus M43 is a killer mount and I love the sensor size.

  17. Yeah, I've heard that more frequently... to just bring back the Atomos 'Ninja Star'-philosophy. Just a screenless recorder! Maybe one day someday someone will answer our prayers. Regarding APS-C, yeah, I'm not really a firm believer of the Fujifilm approach either. Sony's APS-C E-mount may rot in hell... together with Canon's EOS-M. I might've contemplated going APS-C/S35, but just not like this I'm not. Indeed hoping maybe a higher-end version is on the horizon?? That upcoming E-M5 Mark III might be something to look out for now... I just don't want to commit to a fullframe ecosystem.

    Nikon z50 Apsc camera

It's a piece of crap, just like the A6600. Only good work in APSC video now is from Fuji. Panasonic does a really good work in video on M43 (good on FF but some massive caveats like the AF at that price point are unacceptable) Fuji very good work in APSC. Canon is still a complete joke, Nikon is much better than it used to be but not quite there yet. And Sony is a joke in APSC, let's see with the A7S III if they are king again or if they flop totally. Samsung in the past, Panasonic, and now Fuji show us the technology is here, even for small companies. 4K60p, 10 bit, good bitrates, all of this is easy and possible since months/years. The rest of them is just still in this game of protecting other products.

  20. I'm happy to report the "crushed blacks" problem with X-T3 H265 files on 2018 Mac Mini (with T2) has been fixed in OSX Catalina. I am back to editing HEVC from X-T3 natively in Final Cut Pro. I am using a stock Mac Mini i5 with only 8GB memory and get smooth playback with the viewer set to "better performance". In Catalina the scopes show the lowest black levels being set at Zero IRE or above, whereas in Mojave the blacks were actually going down to about -10 IRE and but getting cut off at Zero IRE. (This was only a problem on Macs with T2 chip?) No need to transcode to ProRes and reset the black levels manually anymore!

  22. Looks like it only allows SSD's up to 1TB in size (or maybe I'm misunderstanding the specs) while the Nexto allows for 4TB SSDs and technically can take drives up to 32TB in size, which seems like a much better long term investment.

  23. Let's get this party started! Not the best thing I've ever made, but in the spirit of quantity over quality (and of making things and publishing even if they're not perfect), here it is. This is lens #1 - I may make more than one film with each lens. I think I followed all the rules.... someone made so many of them!! ???
