  1. No, it is D.O. 16f. I believe they have the same glasses. I can call it's a micro lens, original focus around 0.5~1m, ratio is about 1.6x to 1.75x. Even adjust to infinity, it is still shorter then Sankor's 5ft at minimum distance. This lens is cheap, due to it cannot be used regularly. But IMO, it is worthier than others. So I sold my Sankor and Eiki 16f, which are the same lens. Because it is short, so has the similar angle as 16H. The least distortion is beyond my expectation. Here are a comparison photo.

  2. They actually talked about lossy compressed raw, not lesser mp raw...

  3. I shoot manual, even with AF lenses, so I'm adjusting exposure via ISO and f-stop on just about every shot. Sometimes I'll slow down the shutter too for a little exposure help. Anyway, I'd like ISO and Shutter on the wheels, but there's plenty of customization options that make whatever you want to do kinda easy, if not ideal. I've got my cam customized so I never have to take my eye off the EVF to make anything happen. Not that I'm doing much now shooting-wise anyway, just farting around. Here's a bunch of truly random overexposed handheld shots straight from the camera uploaded to YT with a 1980's 24mm 2.8 lens. Some shots punched in with the 2x digital zoom. Not that these images tell you much about the M5II (except it's got moiré and we all knew that) but people like looking at random footage for no good reason and analyzing it completely out of context, so here's some more:

  4. Do not go to Full Sail. I went there for Digital Art & Design, the film program does not have the best reputation. Worse though is that there is not enough jobs available in orlando for the volume of film students in the area (UCF & Valencia are both less than a mile away) and you will have to move to out of the area if you want to find work. Also the tuition is insane, I believe it's currently +$90,000 for 2 years. Those two New York ones are great, and there is a bigger film making community in the area. UCLA is also excellent, but hard to get into their film program.

  7. I played around with that and it's extremely cool. I find it super hard though to actually implement such capabilities into my shooting style because I am so locked in to manual focus in video mode. I am essentially terrified of giving up any sovereignty to the software. That's how Skynet got started after all.

  8. All Blackmagics are really, very nice cameras - in this case too! - The NX1 is the big surprise of the last months... - A exceptionally cinematic (4k) Camera out of the box... (in my opinion). I´ am filming with 5d MLraw and the NX1 is the only camera I would like to use in addition... if I would have the money:)

  9. It looks to me like the blackmagic is terrible and is most likely going to be put out of business by samsung! (kidding of course). I'd say the only downsides to the Panasonic is its lack of lens Change ability, and, sensor size (not very shallow DOF in this comparison). The rolling shutter on the nx1 is not that big of a deal when you look at all the additional downfalls of each camera. Some might disagree but I think the nx1 is the biggest bang for your buck. It's also my choice of upgrade. Blackmagics do create the most pleasing images but do to all the downsides like battery life, file sizes, low light performance, it just become the type of camera I'd rent if I need to shoot raw or something On a production with a bigger budget that can't quite afford reds.

  11. Yes I saw that comment from Olympus. They are right and they're wrong. Pana, Sony, Samsung do need to generate 4K content for their TVs. However my question to Olympus is do you see the potential in great 1080p? BECAUSE YOU HAVEN'T EVEN DONE THAT YET!

  12. You're both taking Olympus' poor video performance as proof of the entire m4/3 system sucking. Ever tried the GH4? BlackMagic Pocket?
