EOSHD GH2 hack installation instructions in 10 steps
- Download the Panasonic GH2 firmware V1.1 from the list
- Download PTools.exe
- Download the required patch – EOSHD GH2 Unified or EOSHD GH2 Vanilla
- Open PTools.exe in Windows. If you are a Mac user run PTools using WineBottler (download)
- Be sure patch INI file and PTools.exe are in the same directory / folder in Windows
- Click ‘Load Firmware’ and choose the official Panasonic GH2 firmware V1.1 file you downloaded earlier
- Notice the round buttons at the bottom of PTools and click preset ‘E’ for EOSHD GH2 Unified or ‘F’ to load EOSHD GH2 Vanilla
- Click ‘Save Firmware’ and type the filename as: GH2__V11.bin (two under-scores not one. Make sure to include extension ‘.bin’). Keep the original Panasonic firmware file in a safe place, don’t overwrite it.
- Copy the newly saved firmware onto your SD card (root folder, not a sub-folder)
- Turn on the GH2 with fully charged genuine battery (NOT a 3rd party battery or AC cord) and press play – the update screen should appear
Differences in GF2 installation
GF2 installation is exactly as above but with 3 differences in terms of downloading the firmware, patch and naming the firmware file on the SD card:
- Download the GF2 firmware V1.1 from the list
- Download the EOSHD GF2 HBR Patch
- The file should be named GF2__V11.bin
You’re done!
You can also use Windows on a Mac by installing Apple BootCamp or VMWare Fusion.
My preference is to use VMWare Fusion.
