Converge came around for 2011 last week and it was interesting to see both from a creative filmmaker perspective, and from a business point of view where DSLR video is at and more importantly where it is heading. It was also great to finally meet Kevin Shahinian, and to catch up with other key people in the resistance like Philip Bloom, Joe Simon, Robin Schmidt and Sam Morgan Moore amongst others. Great to meet you all.

Since Twitter is info-bombardment-madness, things get sunk very quickly on there. I going to move a lot of the EOSHD mini-blogging to a Facebook page. Befriend me here and ‘like’ the new EOSHD page. Or else!

The first mini-blog is about Canon’s 3 year product cycle for the 5D and 1D series and why it is all wrong in the new era of fast moving consumer electronics. At least the 5D Mark 3 will be cutting edge when it finally does hit.

I’ve been shooting in Berlin this winter with my LOMO anamorphic cinemascope lens. This is a Russian anamorphic used by Andrei Tarkovsky, who shot Solaris amongst many others with it on Konvas 35mm film cameras.
