My friends Sally and Ben got married Pagan style last week in Derbyshire, England. This was originally going to be my Warp Stabiliser project, all shot handheld (via the GH2′s built in EVF) with one lens (Voigtlander 25mm F0.95).

Whether you are a videographer, cinematographer or photographer – what your images SAY is the most important aspect of any artistic endeavour.
Samsung have just released a photo showing new prototype cameras.
Sam Morgan Moore has launched his Half Inch Rails S2 camera support. Watch the great summary above.
The main reason I like DSLRs is because they’re small and flexible and it made no sense to me to see all these huge one-purpose rigs coming out recently that basically took your nimble digital cinema camera and turned into a heavy ENG camera in need of 3 pairs of hands just to pick up.
Looking back at my photography I think over half of the shots I really treasure are from my iPhone, which is quite amazing for a fixed lens camera with a tiny sensor and no manual control.

In a new interview with Photography Blog, Panasonic talk G series. The new $699 G3 kit will be released this summer and features the much needed aluminium body. Would like to see this on the GH3.

British film director Richard Jobson, the ex-punk singer behind Converge is to direct the sequel to Quadrophenia.
This is an ingenious manipulation of the Panasonic LA7200 anamorphic adapter, on the Canon 5D Mark II.
The LA7200 works well at wide angles, especially on crop sensor cameras but at fast apertures, with close focus and on full frame DSLRs like the 5D Mark II it isn’t really usable since it isn’t a focussing anamorphic like the Iscorama and you get a blurry image.

If you are thinking of buying an Atomos Ninja for your GH2, it is probably best to wait for the hack.
A few weeks ago I ended up researching how to extract 24p from Sony FS100 footage delivered via a 60i signal to an Atomos Ninja for Philip Bloom and came across some information about the GH2′s HDMI output which I wasn’t aware of previously.

Vitaliy Kiselev says via has personal website, that he has successfully dumped the GH2′s firmware and has begun reversing it.

The GH2 may be the best all-round DSLR for video at the moment and the only one with an extensive creative movie mode and no moiré – but it’s construction is weak relative to a Sony F3, or RED, and even the 5D Mark II. I want to have top and side handles, rails to support large LOMO anamorphic lenses, attach a monitor and a mic.
This cage is the answer.

Thom Hogan thinks video on DSLRs is a waste of time.

We told them but they didn’t listen! The D5100 has all the same live view problems as the D7000, one bug has even been around since the D300 and they haven’t fixed it. The D7000 meanwhile just had a firmware update, which doesn’t fix anything.
So I’m continuing to explore Berlin, it is a fascinating place. Along the River Spree is an old abandoned theme park. Shuttered in 2002 after going bankrupt, the owners fled to Peru and were later arrested for drug smuggling.
Above Vitaliy appears on Spanish RTVE TV on ‘planned obsolesce’ built into consumer electronics. (Second man in, via a video link)
Russian programmer Vitaliy Kiselev has updated us via his own website on Project Lenin and Project Stalin. He has now achieved the required funding for Project Lenin, this involves un-hackable GH1 to be sent and decoded via a hardware dump of the firmware chips. The encryption unlocking methods will then be applied to Project Stalin in the hope the GH2′s firmware can also be opened up in a similar way.

This rig is awesome. The first of it’s kind made especially for the Panasonic GH2 and GH1, it has a trigger release to start and stop recording on a pistol grip so you never have to take your hand away. It is far more affordable than the usual DSLR rig as well despite being all aluminium and with the unique pistol grip being made in Japan.
