Is there a quicktime player that can be setup to play by default 2X De-Squeeze
for anamorphic footage?

In Quicktime 7, you can change an image's size (both vertically and horizontally) to whatever you need them to be under 'Visual Settings'. I have not tried it with Quicktime X. And I know of now way to set this as a default.

That works great!
I just wish there could be a default setting to have a player do the 2X De-Squeeze anytime a quicktime is played.

you can manually resize a Quicktime file once it is open by clicking on the bottom right corner holding down the shift key and pushing the image up so it visually looks reduced by half
its a quick way to preview files fast to see what you have shot
or use VLC media player it has different crop and aspect ratios
