Hello Forum, my name is Gal Shkedi, and I am an animation director,  I am about to buy a new camera for my use, as I am using to shoot videos for using it with my work, here are some examples:http://www.galshkedi.com/HAPPY-PASSOVER http://www.galshkedi.com/LOVEGRENADE-Holy-Divine-Music-video http://www.galshkedi.com/KLICK-DAGDAG-interactive-game I am using a fast lenses to isolate the background for putting my characters and need something sharp for doing video tracking with AE too. and I need something that can be use as a still camera for stop motion projects. I wanted to buy the 5D mark3, but now with all the new stuff (GH4, A7S) I am a bit confused.. I have no need of 4K videos...but I understand that it can bring a better 2K results. my last thing that is it need to be something that can shoot in a low light conditions too... what do you say can you recommend? I have to say that after reading everything about all the new stuff I am still thinking that the 5D is the best choice, but maybe I am wrong... thank you for your help!

EOSHD Pro Color 5 for Sony cameras EOSHD Z LOG for Nikon CamerasEOSHD C-LOG and Film Profiles for All Canon DSLRs

The 5D MKIII is a great option for stop motion type videos (used on ParaNorman) or low light photography, and even for video with the ML RAW recording, but the new Sony a7s it's looking great too with the suppose better lowlight performance and with the 4K recording capability, for me at least on paper for motion graphic videos the a7s is a better option due to the lens flexibility allowing to use a infinity of great lenses, obviously if do you already own Canon glasses the 5d is the option to get, i think that both cameras works with animation software as DragonFrame for stop motion works.

I do love the GH4/GH3 for video work but not this particular kind of work, do you need great Dynamic Range and clean lowlight performance, and between these 3 cameras the GH4 is not the stronger on this subject.

Good luck!

You want Canon for the Magic Lantern hacks (software).  You don't need a 5D3 for animation because it will be overkill.  If you shoot from a distance, which you'll probably want to do, to flatten out your subject, you'll get plenty of shallow DOF with any Canon APS-C size camera.  You can get a 50D for under $400 and with ML it is a monster camera.  Or a 7D, if you want to be more current.

I also love the EOS-M.  A seriously under-rated camera in so many ways.

Also, any chroma key work you want to do, you'll want deep color.  The Panasonic will be less flexible, from a programming standpoint.  That is, you can program Canons do to all kinds of cool stuff, like 12fps RAW if you wanted.
