WorkMonkey Posted March 18, 2014 Share Posted March 18, 2014 I did my first real shoot with my BMCC 2.5k in studio last week using a Vertex 4 SSD and a Samsung 840 SSD. Perfect conditions - and yet they dropped frames like crazy. The Vertex far more than the Samsung, but both still did. Is this a write speed issue? Apparently SSD's can have fairly variable sequential write speeds that can drop too low causing the BMCC to drop frames. Here is a list of SSD's that should work without issue. Also be sure to format the SSD after every time you off load the footage, delete clips isn't enough as it fragments the drive and causes a drop in write speed. hackerfilms Posted April 4, 2014 Share Posted April 4, 2014 I've tried a number of different SSDs and find the Sandisc Extreme is the most stable for my use.
