cantsin Posted August 7, 2017 Share Posted August 7, 2017 If you look for affordable vintage lenses and other second-hand photographic gear, check out Foto Braune, Karl-Marx-Straße 7 near Herrmannplatz; Foto Objektiv, Zossener Str. 37 near Gneisenaustraße; ASA90, Fuldastraße 55 near Rathaus Neukölln, Foto Günther, Karl-Marx-Straße 192 near S Neukölln (all these shops are on the same subway line no. 7) and Foto Schilling, Kantstraße 87 near S Charlottenburg. All these shops are small family/owner-operated local businesses, have highly competent and - in the case of Braune, Günther and ASA90 - super-friendly staff and can certainly need your support in a city where rising rents threaten these unique (and sometimes eccentric one-of-a-kind) places. Foto Braune and ASA90 are the places to go if you're also looking for 8mm film gear. Europe's biggest lab for 8 and 16mm processing, Andec, is just around the corner. If you're looking for new analog photographic gear (films, chemicals etc.), go to Fotoimpex in Mitte, which is the outlet of the Adox film factory (but also sells other manufacturers). And there is also a van there that sells quite remarkable chips. I went for lenses but stayed for the chips. At 2.8 it´s only as good as my 28mm Canon FD at 2.8. But one cost me 25EU, the other one 200:) What are you shooting? You should come back, so we can hang out and film some stuff. Hope, mercer is not reading this and starting to make jokes on my expense now:) I revise: would be cool to meet up with you, so we can film stuff and buy lenses. Sounds silly too. You know what I mean From SanDiego and traveling Europe while doing a few odd jobs. Picking up stuff here for a self-funded documentary.
