Here's the current status of the project...

I've restored an old copy of the forum here, since NEX-Hack.com is no longer active.

The NEX Hack project is searching for new developers.

The original developer has moved on since October 2012 and has not posted any more at either my forum or Vitaliy Kiselev's.

Donations are currently disabled until a new developer can get on board.

Discussion of the hack and testing is open as normal on this forum.

What you do expect from the developer to do?

Do you have a list of items, as in bounties?

Well I'm sick of waiting around and not seeing updates.  I want 2 features:-

1. Someone give me HDMI out on NEX5n with 'overlays removed option' selected in the same way you can change the info displayed on screen before recording starts.  you can toggle how much or how little overlays info you have showing up.  turning histogram on or off, changing display size of battery level etc.

2. Up the AVCHD bitrate (in the same way they did with GH2 hack)

there is a bounty on the head of these firmware changes.  I'll donate a NEX5n Cine Housing for free to the first man, woman or child who comes up with a hack/firmware change to allow these features.

There's also 450 euros left in the donations pot for anybody who can take this over and see progress.

I'll prepare some info about what the technical requirements are of any potential developer.

that's great.  I think it might be a cool idea to do it like that.  a bounty on the head of a significant update to the firmware via hack.  I see my £35 donation to Someone1.00 for decrypting both 1st and second waves to be good value if it allows another person to follow on with development of a patch.

I would be willing to donate more if we can get remote control and whatever else can be done with the Nex-7.

I think a lot of us would donate money to get clean HDMI out of a NEX 5R. I know I would. I'm with Richg above that those two things that he lists would be, as they say, the cat's meow to users.

I think everybody just wants what Richg posted, but I don't think there's a competent programmer out there who's willing to do it.

I'm not a pessimist, but unless vitaliy picks this up, it seems dead in the water :/

Maybe you should raise awareness by making the current situation a front-page blog post Andrew? Or have you done that already?

I second the idea of making some buzz aroud it or it will be really dead.

There is work being done.  Progress is being made, but it's slow.

There's actually a pretty decent amount of information here: http://www.nex-hack.info/

Is there any resources to look at for programming, to see what kind of language it is.  Basically a getting started guid.  I have a bs in software eng.  and I am looking to see about maybe getting the next gen nex camera.  So I like the idea of being able to hack and mod the camera especially since I am looking to auto some robotic classes  and look at getting into using the netudio boards and see what I can really create.
