Parfocal lenses

Yes the 24-105 is supposed to be parfocal.

And my quick testing just now seems to back this up... It's strange though as others have reported it isn't so milage may vary.

Stills photographers don't really care whether a lens is parfocal or not as they always use AF so I suspect that being parfocal is not a design goal for Canon's still photo zooms & if you have a model that is you should just be grateful.

The Canon 24-105 does pretty well, but the Sony kit lens 18-200 seems to come out best (although it isn't constant aperture...).

 

It's not easy this lark is it?
