1. Selling my Tokina +.04 Double Achromat lens filter here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tokina-04-Close-up-Lens-Double-Achromat-Diopter-72mm-for-Anamorphic-Lenses-/231643593610? Very rare lens that is no longer made. Happy shooting!
2. According to Andrew's guide you need 83 MB/s for 1080p raw video.  (Highly recommend the guide!)   My 64GB Komputerbay tested at 95.6 MB/s so I'm keeping it.   Hope this helps!
3. @axel   Kindly send us a link to your latest sci-fi film and I will kindly send you a gold star.   If Kubrick or Scott had Vimeo or Youtube back in the day the would have been doing the same thing as me.   Live fast die young.  Or old in your case.   Peace.
4. Andrew - I was inspired by this article and in particular the photo you posted of early Kubrick so I went out and shot some footage/location scout for a film called "The Moon Matrix" which is also inspired in part by 2001: A Space Odyssey and part Prometheus.   http://vimeo.com/62591668
5. Celebrating SOMA Magazine's Fall Fashion Issue for 2012. Filmed on Thursday, September 27th 2012 at Temple Nightclub in San Francisco, CA. Filmed entirely on the 2x Anamorphic Kowa Prominar 16H (8Z) on 2 lenses: 58mm Helios 44m 35mm Canon FD Thorium Graded with Cineform Firstlight ----- Behind the Scenes look at the launch party for new Ustream app called "Broadcast For Friends". Its basically Instagram for live video streaming. Download the app on iPhone here: itunes.apple.com/us/app/broadcast-for-friends-bff/id551019882?mt=8 Shot in both 2x Anamophic and regular 16:9 with crop. --- Lessons learned: 1. MUST use Tokina Diopter and +1 diopter closer than 5 feet! (was getting too close to the models and they came out blurry!) 2. Can't go completely handheld - MUST use cowboy rig at least. Tripod is best. 3. run-n-gun is hard to focus both anamophic and taking lens 4. almost NO light loss from Kowa :)
6.
I have been going back and forth between the BMC and the GH3 as my next camera. This series of tests tilts the scale sharply back towards the BMC.
I'm in the same boat - but after looking at what Davinci Resolve can do - It seriously shifts my thoughts towards the BMCC. I have a feeling that as awesome as the GH3 is going to be - when the camera tests come out - it will be the same if not inferior to the hacked GH2 quality. Time will tell - but this video seriously makes me want the BMCC over the GH3!
7. Thanks for the write-up Andrew! Look forward to seeing your video footage :D I'll eventually purchase the GH3 early next year (January/February) but I'm definitely NOT getting rid of my GH2 - it is a classic!
8. Why wouldn't you put the LCW ND filter in front of your anamorphic? Seb Farges does this & it's a great look. I just ordered a 72mm LCW to put in front of my Kowa 16H...
9. How about: GH2 88Mbps Kowa Prominar 16H Tokina diopter +0.5 Cheap Vivtar diopter +1, +2, +4 Redstan clamps Canon FD 50mm 1.4 Canon FD Thorium 35mm 2 Canon FD 85mm 1.8 Lightcraft Vari-ND 72mm Small DP4 As for real projects - I agree - can't seem to find any recent projects filmed on Anamorphic except for Vimeo group: https://vimeo.com/groups/anamorphic/videos/45244599 As for features - that could be the start of a revolution! :)
10. Andrew - Thank you for taking the time to tell us that the GH2 is still the King of the low-budget HDSLR's. These little tidbits are why I check your blog daily ;) Cheers!
