    • Film Piracy, Careers Ruined, Sundance, Worth it?
no, i think it's clear what his intent was in suggesting it was a movie no one cared to torrent.

the studio accounting has been painfully slow. all i know at this point is a projection that it has grossed in the neighborhood of high five figures or low six figures internationally so far. domestic is separate from that.

How much revenue did you generate from those countries, or interest in presenting the video in a formal setting? I think that was sort of his point. Most of that downloading went on because people had no access to the video at all outside of that. The distributor doesn't have overhead either? The point is, distribution through physical locations is inherently an expensive affair.

actually, on opening weekend, most of the ticket for major and mini-major studio titles goes to the distributor. the longer a film plays, the more the cut swings in the theater's favor. This is why concessions are priced so high. The theater isn't making much on new titles so they have to make up for it in popcorn sales.

And to clarify, if I'm shooting video, not still photos, where the 3:2 sensor of the Sony is a bigger read on the anamorphic and the vignetting more severe. Tito, your calculator is a great work, but as you say in the description, different sensors and crops in each particular camera and, more importantly, the anamorphic lens used can arrange for no vignetting on wider lenses... There are many 2x that would be impossible to do on a 5d iii what you did with a 50mm on one of your amazing reviews with a kowa b&h. It's a great tool but is no replacement for self experimentation :D

That was kind of my point.....you have to figure out how you are going to market your production within the context of all the file sharing that goes on. What has happened to the porn industry over the last decade or so is an excellent study, since they have experienced these sorts of issues for some time already, and have figured out how to live in the new paradigm. Those that didn't went out of business. That is how the world works.
