    • Original camera files - download and share!
What's the best online host for big files to keep links alive? I have a few Amira clips so y'all can compare with a few other cams.
    • Requesting a 4K 5D Mark IV! Werner meets Canon in Germany
@Andrew Reid finally someone telling the truth how the industry works. Thanks for that!   But I think you are wrong on one little detail (that has nothing to do with the rest). The removal of the video Button on the X-T2 prototype probably point to the video mode becoming more important. Why is that?! Because we already know it should do 4K. Fuji managers have said as much. And then there is the technical detail, that somehow everyone missed on the internet: there is another setting on the mode dial (the dial beneath the ISO dial). I am pretty sure that this is the Video mode.  Making video a mode and not a button you press to start and stopp, gives more freedom. You could change some video settings before starting (probably with the release button).  Of course this is speculation, but I am pretty sure it will happen in a similar way

Spending for mediocre tech is unnerving, but in some ways limitations can be a great thing. One part of me likes it that we can not always have the biggest, best, fastest camera all the time. These limits sometimes appear as reminders to focus on what I 'can have' and very often that means focusing on people story and storytelling.
    • Thinking... iMac vs. new Mac Pro
I've (this week) ordered an iMac with the i7 4Ghz and the M395X GPU. Ram and HDD I left standard, as aftermarket ram is substantially cheaper (and is a user 'allowed' update) and as I'm using a RAID already didn't feel the need to mess with the HDD (as its a fusion SSD combo) My decision was based on the fact I'm almost 90% in FCPX - and the performance of the iMac is so on par with the a 6 Core MacPro with dual D500 GPUs. Which is crazy for the price difference and the included 5K screen....
    • Canon 1D X Mark II high ISO and colour performance worse than predecessor
I defy you to lock focus with as much ease as you can with the 1DX Mkii with any of those other cameras. You guys are bustin b@lls, does the Ursa Mini come close to the ISO performance of this camera? Is kinefinity weather sealed? As an A7R, A7Rii, A7Mkii owner, I can confirm the A7 series does not have the same level of reliability... it's a prosumer/consumer product. My 1DX Mkii comes today...  if I put it through its paces and it sucks, I'll sell it, but if we're comparing this without using it,  then I'll judge it by the footage I've seen. And so far the 4k has looked quite good. I know it will not need to be babied. No need to worry about a little rain... or a monsoon. I know when I fly it I'll still get the shot... in focus! No overheating! Massive lens selection. Built like a tank. Not a permit camera like many. It's a fantastic all rounder.  A7Rii You know the A7RII is a great stills camera, but I can tell you this... set it in burst mode and you will fill the buffer in a few seconds.... then you will wait... and wait... and wait some more... and yet some more... while it writes to the card. Missed quite a few shots that way. And what good is superior ISO performance or better DR, when you've missed the shot? Also,  the jury is still out on this ISO thing. After reviewing some images taken by 1DC Mkii owners, I'm not so sure the A7Rii is better. At least not after eyeballing a few stills i took a 10k ISO with my A7Rii. They did not appear a clean as the Canon. And the noise was not as organic either. Detail also got lost.  As time goes on we will learn more, but it is unwise to jump to conclusions here.
