    • @gethin I'm not disagreeing at all with @Orangenz, but is it the GX85 that is holding you back from making that feature film or whatever it is you're working on? Because for two grand, you could get yourself a whole lot of gear: a nice motorized slider, a single handed brushless gimbal stabilizer, a decent microphone, and an HD monitor, as well as some LED lights - equipment that you could use for years to come and which will increase your production value far more than the latest and greatest camera, which you'll probably upgrade in a couple of years down the road anyhow. Out of curiosity, what are the issues you're having with grading footage from the camera you already own?
    • Development announcements make sense for products with 5 years cycles (communism much?), aka DSLR dinosaurs, when their competitors have reduced the product cycle drastically.

Also 8K timelapse is a big announcement joke, since d800 can already do it.
    • I have them both and I actually like GX80 colors more. 50 fps 4K is for me the only reason GH5 is a better choice (and to be honest GH5 looks more like a professional camera, as GX80 looks more like a turist toy). I find V-Log unusable colorwise and I don't see a big difference between 10 bit and 8 bit footage.
    • A "Clear Look at the Issue of Resolution" comparison by Steve Yedlin, ASC. He offers an intriguing demonstration on how capture formats, pixel counts and postproduction techniques affect image quality and why simply counting Ks is not a solution when selecting a camera." End quote. https://ascmag.com/articles/a-clear-look-at-the-issue-of-resolution
    • I'm not sure who did this first. Panasonic did it with the GH5 but I have a vague memory of Fuji doing the same, but might be mistaken. Its the newest thing I guess. Build the hype early and get people on forums and such to say what they want in it.
They get free pols, target groups, data, etc. A lot of money saved in market research. And it might slow down the sales of for example the A9 since many like to "wait for the next model before deciding". Pretty smart imo.
And kinda nice. I would love to get an official confirmation of a Fuji  X70s or a Ricoh GRiii as early as possible.
