    • Canon 1DX-II vs. 1DC - Which one would you buy?
All this discussion about handheld documentary shooting is really failing to identify the revolutionary nature of the DPAF technology as implemented in the 1DX II. Certainly, achieving critical focus in split-second time and undertaking rack/follow focus will be much easier with DPAF than any manual method, even with a great monitor that has focus peaking.   But the truly impressive capabilities of DPAF that would be very costly if not impossible to emulate through any other means include remote focus control and completely autonomous focusing. For me, the fact that DPAF can keep focus on a moving or stationary subject as I perform a tracking or stabilizer shot is priceless. Moreover, the touchscreen focus control is also accessible through a WiFi tablet application that has a range of over 300 feet. Here are some screen grabs from the Mo Ming BTS video that demonstrate this technology at work:

For those that are planning to buy the GX80/85 for it's AF capabilities, you may be disappointed:
    • 28mm lenses with long focus throw? Usability of combined wideangle adapter
For wide angle adapters - I have a ten dollar Neewer one and like it. Mostly for portraits.. close up it's sharper, and there's added "character" especially wide open (some barrel distortion, edge softness, haze, goofy bokeh). Gets a lot sharper at 5.6, but still probably not perfectly acceptable for everyone. I use it on a 50 mostly, distortion is worse on a wider lens. I also use it on a full frame lens and a crop sensor, would be less confident on full frame for the edges. It also makes the minimum focus distance closer by like a couple feet, but I think keeps infinity.. near infinity on the lens. Doesn't seem to affect the color or contrast of the lens. I forget the large, pricey one that was suggested once here. The DSO one seems like a better performer than mine too, but again, plenty of character. Also, something that should be noted, because it's not sensible.. I have no idea what the multiplier number on the adapter refers to. Mine says .45x, but is more like .74x for focal length. Sorry if that was wordy
    • What's your favorite action movie?
Oh Cannon... Revenge of the Ninja... Gotta love Sho Kosugi.  Also loved Chuck Norris in The Octagon.
    • Panasonic G7 and Metabones Speed Booster XL hands-on - Super 35mm 4K for cheaper
Cheers mate, yeah have noticed the clipping a little, not on all clips, it fairs pretty good for cheap cam. Stoked with the G7.
